All: Long time reader but first time poster. As for Berry Aviation, do they hire other than Mil Pilots for overseas gigs? Commercial Civ Pilot with a lot of downrange time as a ground pounder. Just thinking what type of flying I might want to get into down the road. Btw APC has been a very informative site. Thanks

Don't know if this can help answer your question but the position I was hired for in SAN is for a military contract yet my background is all Civi.

Best..

Thanks. Very much appreciated.

I've sworn that I'll only go back to the sandbox if I'm in a flying capacity and I don't mean riding a Blackhawk. OR riding in a Humvee or MRAP every day:(.

I like the ISR side of the missions as I feel it directly helps the guy's on the ground but any flying in that environment I would view as a challenge and rewarding. Air America style:D

Know problem,
I know they do have contracts here stateside but don't have many details. Pretty much the only reason I accepted a gig here was it's home every night, sounds like a pretty routine gig and the folks sound like a decent bunch.

Here's a couple of pretty specific questions,
Would like to hear from anyone working at Berry please.
How does the training go? I know that I will spend a week in San Marcos Tx, followed by some time in San Antonio for sic training on the Metro. Could anyone share a more detailed itinerary of the stay? Is the training done to proficiency with a sign-off for a 135 sic or is there a checkride with a separate examiner? How long was your training? As I get closer to the class date I'm sure many of these answers will start to fall in place. The last time I did a 135 checkout was a PIC in a helicopter 26 years ago. Hardly the same I'm sure.

Thank you in advanced.

Anyone have anything new they want to share about what's going on in San Marcos?

Any recent info on Berry? I see they are hiring a new CP and new DO.

I worked for them for a bit in the Metro. Typical On-Demand Cargo Gig. Lots of night flights. I do believe they have started using 120's now for their cargo hauls.
