I am looking at starting flight school in March, and am looking at starting my career with Airnet. I have just noticed that they changed to have no published mins. On their pay section of their website they use an example of some one coming into Airnet with 500tt and going through their FO program for about 7 months. Do you see a lot of 500tt people coming through the FO program? Since the mins are gone are you seeing more people with less then 500tt coming on? I was also wondering how long do people stay on at Airnet? I am currently thinking about working with them for 5-7 years to get at least 5000 Lear PIC time before I leave. Is this a good idea? To long? Not enough? All information would be greatly appreciated.

I am currently working on my commercial right now and saw the same thing and thought about it. If you want to do the FO program keep in mind that you'll be making 7.69 an hour according to the payscale thread and no one says you definitely get 160 hours a month. I know when i'm done flight training I'm not gonna have 500TT probably more like 250-300 and the flight school is probably gonna stick me with a year contract for flight instructing which you might see more of at other flight schools with the shortage of CFIs. Not saying you shouldn't apply with less just sharing some thoughts I have had about it. You asked some good questions I would like to see the answers to as well.

The flight schools that I have gone to have had on option of taking a year contract (which of course pays more) or going month to month. Anyway, I am aware that the pay is low for the FO program, but me personally, I would rather be flying a "real" flying job then instructing. I really don't want to go the 121 route either, so I was hoping to hope on a 135 outfit shortly after finishing school.

Just another question if anyone knows, if I would enter Airnet's FO program, does my sinority start when I am a FO, or when I move into a PIC?

160 hours per month would only be enjoyable for about 2 weeks. Try flying 40 hours logged per week..it is HORRENDOUS.

I do not work for airnet but some advice I would give you is do not go there in their FO program unless you are closer to 135 mins. You can just instruct and build very valuable experience until you get closer to 1000TT which after training shouldnt take much more than 6 months at a great instructing job. Airnet seems like a great job, I just wouldnt want to be there for under 8 bucks an hour building time

I have been at Ameriflight for just a couple of months. They hire instructors to be part 91 trainers. When you get your 1200 hours you get right in a turboprop and off you go. At least they pay you while you are flight instructing. My instructor was just coming up to 1200 hours and was already qualified in the 99. I think he is going to SLC or it might have been BFI. This seems like a way better way than AirNet's FO program.

Like anything else there are mutiple paths to get to the same destination. Who knows which is best?

Flight instructing is good for you, and it will make you a better pilot. That's really all I have to say.

Yes there have been people with less than 500 hrs that got on with AirNet(SIC program). I not sure on what number of people, with what kind of background, get on. These days getting a 135 job shouldn't be too hard anyways.

People stay here anywhere from one to 30 years. The majority probably leave after 12-15 months and the folks that stay for the Lear PIC time probably stays anywhere from 3-10 years. If you stay as a Lear PIC 5-7 years you might get the 5000 hrs you want:). I've been here a while and still have not gotten quite that much;)
Yes your seniority start from your hire date (yes, even as an prop SIC).

The only advise I'll give is this: slow down and take your time, make sure you have as much information as possible before you make any decision. Today it's a pilot's market so make the most out of it!

How many hours are you required to have to be eligilble for Ameriflights CFI job? What does it pay?

Does anyone know how long it would take to upgrade to Lear PIC if you come in with part 135 mins? Also do you have a choice of where you are based. If you want Columbus is it easy to get since that is where their main operation is?

Right now (subject to change, as alwasys) I'd say it should take you 18 to 36months depending on how picky you are!

Off course you can get what you want, but (there is always a "but") that might take longer. LCK has more positions, but it's also popular choice. Sometimes it takes time and some times it does not.
