I'm interested. 4000 hours in turbo props requiring a type rating. Don't want to fly the BE-99 though.

Glad to hear
Is SDF for the FO position out of training, or is it seniority based?

As far as I know they only hire FO for the Brasilia every now and then, and there are not too many planes/bases so they'll specifically send you whatever they need you.

Then I think you can bid for a specific base after 90 days....but only if there's a vacancy.

BE99, Metro and B1900 is a different story. Lots of movement

That kind of ruins my plan of crashing at my family in Louisville

For example, there was one vacancy a few weeks ago and it was Aguadilla base, PR.

Currently there are no E120s in SDF.

I am interested in the home based captain positions. According to the website, I qualify for either the B1900 or Metro.

Does the schedule consider the time off hard time off, or do the needs of the company run the schedule?

Does the bonus count military time in lieu of 135 or 121?

Thanks!

It is hard time as far as I know. They may ask you to work on scheduled off time (particularly during Peak) but you can turn it down. If you DO work your scheduled off time, you are paid regular pay for the off week and then you are also paid for the days you work, including travel days.

As former military myself, I would think it would be counted. But I can't say for sure. Best thing there would be to talk to recruiting.

Hello guys, I was wondering how the Bro routes out of Seattle/Ontario are.
Any info about the quality of life on those bases.

And now a technical question. What's the criteria Ameriflight uses to choose between Metro/1900/Brasilia for a specific route?. Just range/capacity?

I don't now about the ONT route as it is pretty new and I've never flown it.

The two out of BFI are pretty good. Since the base is on the west coast, the return times for all runs are pretty early compared to DFW or CVG.

The 120 runs reposition empty on Monday afternoon to bring freight in at night, getting to BFI around 1830L. One run covers Yakima and Walla Walla. The other goes to Pasco. In the morning, you would show about 0530 and depart around 0700. Both runs get their legal rest at night but the company still covers the hotels in Pasco and Walla Walla.

The decision as to which aircraft is normally assigned to a run is determined by the contract with the customer (UPS, FedEx or DHL.) Some times a downgrade may be required because of pilot or aircraft availability or lack thereof. Also, there are times when the customer may request an upgrade on a run if it is available to deal with extra freight.

Javichu 01-07-2018 07:45 AM

That route sounds sweet.
It must be beautiful flying up there.

Thanks for answering the technical question, I understand now :-)

The one big thing to always keep in mind flying in WA during the winter is that flying over the Cascades makes icing a given, so keep that in mind with the MELs - some prevent flight into known icing.

It is one of the most beautiful places to fly, both east and west sides of the state.

Does anyone have any info on when any positions will come available in PHX?

Would accepting a position at another base and then trying for a transfer to PHX be an easier option?

PHX seems to stay pretty well staffed. What is our time and what are you looking to fly from the start?

TT- 1240
PIC - 1150
XC - 740
MULTI - 31
INSTRUMENT -63
NIGHT - 50
ASEL, AMEL, CFI, CFII

I would be glad to accept an SIC positions at the start. Being shy of 135 IFR mins I would like to use an SIC opportunity to gain more real world IFR experience before moving into the left seat.

Hey all,

New to this scene. Applying for an EMB-120 position in Seattle shortly. Just wondered if anyone knew what the schedule for a week might look like. Would need to commute, and curious how much home time I’d get with the family. Have read some things online but looked dated. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

The EMB runs repositions empty from BFI to Pasco or Walla Walla on Monday afternoon and bring freight back to BFI. On Tu-F, they carry freight outbound, departing BFI around 0630-0700, spend the day at the outstation and return around 7PM that evening. So there may be options to jump seat on Friday evening, depending on where you are going and flight availability.

For the return, company policy says that if you are going to commute, you need to plan to be at your starting location NLT 4 hours prior to your scheduled show time.

You're pretty close on time. Just missing 12 hours instrument time and 50 hours night.

Thanks for the quick reply, I appreciate it! I believe I read somewhere in this thread based on seniority after 90 days you can bid for a different base depending on availability?

If you are not on an outstationed run (where you actually live away from the primary base) then you can bid anything. (Out stations have a 6 month domicile lock.) And you will likely need to remain in your aircraft for a while just because of seniority and gaining the flight time needed.

I was told Bro training lasts two months. Any idea about the training structure? I imagine simulators are not in house, are they?.

EMB training is done with our instructors at Flight Safety in ATL.

Javichu 01-10-2018 07:12 AM

That's nice. I'm not used to so many resources after working at my current company :)

Kinda silly question, but how are portland/Seattle bases in comparison? Talking about the Brasilia.
More hours flown, quality of life..

Yes. They used to use a couple in house simulators for the 1900s, (even used them for BE99 training back in the day), but for current regulatory purposes they go to New York. But yeah, outsourced simulator with an AMF instructor, same as the Metro and Brasilia.

There is no sim. It's all done over the phone.

In my case around 875h and 700h or so PIC
