How much turn over has there recently been at Ameriflight? Are all the pilots going to the regionals or are some going to the majors like Southwest?

Thanks for any info you can share.

And one more question, or more like insight.

What is AMF life like for a new hire out of OAK? Like schedules, aircraft, upgrade etc...

Thanks again.

I don't fly for AMF but from what I have heard and read: start on the PA-31, upgrade to the B99 in about a year (sometimes less), and as far as schedule, plan to be gone more than you're home; a lot of time spent at the outstation. 5 days a week, weekends off, and you get two random days off per month, your choice.

If you go through this thread as well as the "121 vs Ameriflight" thread you will learn all you want to know.

Thanks for the thread recommendation. Alot of great info.

Can anyone say what routes the new hires fly in the PA31 out of OAK? Or give examples of different routes with duty times?

Thanks.

Go on FlightAware - Flight Tracker / Flight Status / Flight Tracking an type in PA31 and or KOAK into the search boxes and you will see listings of all the IFR flights in the PA31's.

There is continuous turnover at Ameriflight -- because companies further up the career ladder have found that AMF pilots are usually pretty good bets. Former AMFers go lots of places -- direct to the majors, major international carriers, some to regionals (usually with a pay cut), some to air ambulance, corporate flying, etc., etc. A couple of years of keeping your nose clean at Ameriflight and some real world, IFR, turbine PIC weather flying under your belt, and you're pretty attractive.

One former AMF guy just got an offer with Alaska (flew Air Ambulance after AMF, but in a "smaller" aircraft than what he was flying) and couple have interviewed with Allegiant, Omni, etc.

Was he out of PHX?

I did get some information from flight aware. Thanks.

Can someone share a Chieftain new hire AMF pilots typical weekly schedule with times and places of departure?

Thanks again
