Javichu,

What are your main frustrations with PR?

I heard it's too hot so ice melts too quickly in his tropical cocktail at the beach!

I'd still go to a regional eventually I guess.

It sucks that 135/121 is not valued the same honestly. I'd rather fly night cargo than a crj with passengers but....

As a former AMFer and as somebody who made lots of friends at AMF and have watched them go from AMF (2010-2012 alum) to where they are today, I can promise you, you will not go from AMF directly to a legacy, period. The ONLY way you will get a major airline (defined as any airline that generates a billion or more revenue) from AMF is using a preferential hiring agreement. AMF is the first step in a multi step process if you choose to go the AMF route. A regional after AMF is the most likely step, with a ULCC or LCC being slightly likely.

135 is valued, I was hired at a legacy with no 121 time, only 135 time. It just depends on what kind of 135 time. There are two camps, those that have never heard of AMF, or those who know AMF is single pilot, and although FOs are on the Bro, and other aircraft sometimes, the training mentality is single pilot. I have had 4 flying jobs since AMF, with 2 being very large companies and nobody had heard of AMF.

AMF is some of the most challenging flying you can do and collect a paycheck, but it is also some of the most irrelevant flying to 121 that you can possibly do.

Hey Javichu,

Watch this YouTube video:

“Inside Singapore Airlines”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKuGqKYk3pQ&t=1333s

Go to 29:06 and watch a young lad take his six-month checkride in a 777. Use this for motivation for when you are feeling frustrated. If he can do it then so can you!

According to the commentator the Captain has 140,000 flight hours.... Now that's some serious experience... :) Do the math. That means he has been in the air for 5,833 days.. or 16 years straight. Not.
