We have one offline training captain base in OAK now, but usually they are based in Burbank.

friendlyskies, if you don't mind me asking, who are you flying for now?

Got some Ameriflight questions:

Are they hiring pilots for turbine PIC positions in the DFW domicile?

What is a typical schedule?

Average pay?

Average days off?

Average time away from base?

We had two Brasilia FO position's open, but I believe I saw two pilots for the positions in indoc this past week. There also might be asorted outstation runs. We need Ad hoc metro captains out of Cincinatti.

Usually M-F,

weekends off

Please do yourself a favor and consider big time before coming to ameriflight. There are better companies out there, and they will start hiring very soon.

I use to like flying for this company since Eddie Menshain and two other managment guys left the company and the managment sucks,,,sucksss big time.

I would consider before putting in my application.

One more thing that sucks with this company, the schedule. let me tell you guys how it works.
you wake up around 4 am in the morning and call dispatcher and tell them that you are checking in.
Then you have to show up one hour later, so in this example it would be 5 am at the airport.
You take off around 5:45 am and get to your destination around 7 or 8 am depends on which run you are doing.
After that, you will rest at the layover and depart around 6-7 pm and will get back to your home base around 8-9 Pm. Expect to be home around 9-10 pm. The scenerio above is an example of one of the runs in Burbank.

why not airnet, better airplane and better equipment.
Good luck to all you guys.

Sounds like a DHL feeder route. Ive heard some people enjoy that schedule. I think they play golf or something on the layover. regardless airnet doesnt have a whole lot of that unless you're looking to live in the west then, yes its quite similar. Otherwise lots of up and down. 6 approaches in one night is not terribly uncommon in some parts of the country (Northeast in the winter). But either way they own you 4-5 days a week. I think I have more phone numbers for couriers now than friends. Oh well

Agreed. Things sure have changed since Eddie left. It's like a whole new company and not in a good way. Amazing how one great leader can make such a difference. Most of us miss that guy very much. He was one of a kind. I heard he went to United Airlines. Lucky United, they too could use some of Eddie's talents.

I realize this thread is old but I am curious what the prospects are for the Seattle base? Can you get hired straight into a chieftan? What are the runs like? I might be interested in Puerto Rico as well.

As of now we are not hiring off of the street. We are letting all of our current line captains bid on open positions before we start hiring again. The only place that they might hire off of the street is PDX and OAK for the Chieftain. Any people who are offered a position will be put into a pool for the next new-hire class.
