DHL and 135 operations

How many part 135 cargo operators are going to be affected with DHL directing all their air freight to UPS? Any ideas and thoughts. I know the cargo forum has one on this, but they are talking about ABX and Astar, much larger operations.

I'm not sure how many outfits will be impacted, but I'm guessing that Air Cargo Carriers that have DHL runs out West could be affected; Ameriflight too.

DHL just gave 30 days notice on a good chunk of the feeder flying system wide. AMF, ACC et al all affected.

From what i hear alot of the integration into UPS will be absorbed by their extensive ground shipment division and existing capacity so don't look good for all the small 135 places.

I alway liked flying for DHL, light years better than feeding UPS.

The 135 guys were the first guys I thought of when I saw the UPS/DHL news. In 2000 or 2001 (I'm not really sure) when Emery stopped flying USPS freight ACC lost most of their runs overnight. I'm not sure how they got through, but I think they found work for most of the planes pretty quickly.

I don't know what will happen with all the extra pilots and airplanes this time around. I expect to see more companies increasing their presence in on-demand freight. I know ACC and Ameriflight already have charter depts. I haven't noticed either of them doing much charter flying lately, but I expect to be competing with them for trips in the near future.

Good luck to everybody affected by this.

Word is that ACC is losing 3 DHL runs and has to re-bid for 1 or 2.
