How long did you guys wait after the phone interview for confirmation on an in-person interview date? They're swamped over there I know, just wondering. They're my top choice so I'm sweating it out. :P

I got offered my choice of dates to come up at the end of my phone interview. The phone interview wasn't incredibly detailed, just mainly chatting about the company...

Good luck to everyone!

Yeah, I got invited out at the end of the phone interview but they asked me to choose a date once I knew my schedule. Just waiting for a call back to confirm it. Definitely excited.

My flight kit is my headset & lunch box. Current NOS charts are kept in each a/c. GOM & AFM are also in each a/c so no company manuals to tote either.

Whats it like doing their Mail+Cargo runs? I don't have the 1500 + ATP, and I don't really want to be a FO, so the mail thing seem right up my alley. Is the pay the same? Is it just as easy, easier, or harder to get one of those runs as opposed to a passenger PIC/SIC job?

From what they told us during the interview, it sounds like if you have between 1200 and 1500hrs, you can fly as PIC on mail runs occasionally, and fly as SIC the rest of the time. Pay is slightly above SIC pay, but quite a bit lower than captain pay.

Does anybody else here work for Cape Air? I'm in the Sept 8th class and was also wondering about base transitions, the carib. in particular. Also, how senior is the Seranac Lake base?

What bases are offered for the first officer/PIC mail flying?

miller,

There are only two lines in SLK. One line holder bid Guam and will be leaving, however as the new bid should be published today, that open slot will most likely be filled before you get on line.

navi,

Mail flying is only HYA-ACK. SIC's could be based anywhere, but most flying is out of HYA and BOS. Remember the SIC is not required VFR, and replaceable with an autopilot under IFR. Thus there is very little need for an FO in the Caribbean. RUT is always 2-person crew route, so I understand there are 2 FOs based up there.
