BTW, I'm from Taiwan, new to this country and this forum!
Welcome. Hope your first Thanksgiving was filling. <urp>

does that mean you can't log any cross country time
Depends on the rating. For an ATP (I suspect that's the rating you're working on) it's 50nm straight-line distance; no landing mentioned. A landing is mentioned in many other rating requirements.

FAR 61.1 (b) (3) (vi) (b) That is at least a straight-line distance of more than 50 nautical miles from the original point of departure

I don't know how far Scenic flies from Boulder or Grand Canyon. Anybody?

In any case, many are somewhat "liberal" in their interpretation of the term. I don't recommend this, but it's a fact.

you will log plenty of X-C time at scenic /GCA.
from boulder city to canyon west or grand canyon airport.
Grand canyon airport to Page AZ or monument valley UT or some combination of these.

Scenic/GCA is the same company now.

I work for them, and no we are not hiring. Just laid off 52 people, did not furlough any pilots, but we are taking a 25% pay cut and being forced to take an additional week off without pay each month.

Might be hiring soon -- all of us are mad enough to leave.

Good luck!

That sucks, I'm sorry to hear that. And you guys just recently started getting paid better, right?
This industry just keeps getting more frustrating.

Are there a lot fewer tourists coming right now than this time last year?

This really is frustrating for us Scenic guys...I thought they called it a guarantee because of that...It's supposed to be a guarantee! First they string you along for the entire summer with the bonus they pay to the pilots as an incentive to stay through the busy months, then they essentially steal it back with a paycut. I was already circling the drain financially as it is making the guarantee, then they go and take a fourth of it away. I literally cannot afford this job anymore. The people and flying at Scenic are both awesome, but I will probably be looking for something else at this point.

They've pushed back hiring. No word when it'll pick up.

any guess on the chances of them considering someone with previous 121 PIC time, for the left seat?
