I sent my resume last night right before bed and had a response when I got up this morning already. It didn't say much, just that he may be contacting me. We will see.

Did you just send them your resume on climbto350 or did you send it to an email address? There was no email address listed in the ad.

wareagle07 08-20-2009 07:24 AM

Good luck HungryPilot! Do you mind me asking what kind of experience you have? I've got recent time on the PC12 and just sent my stuff to them. Hopefully I'll hear back... fingers crossed

HungryPilot 08-20-2009 02:57 PM

Well, unfortunately i don't have PC12 time. I turned away from all those oportunities before because I didn't like the idea of sitting right seat in a single pilot plane. I have a little more than 2500 hours, most of which is at single pilot operations and 90% is PIC. In this market I'm less likely to hear back than you are if you got time in type. I've noticed that the only way to get a job is to take a step backwards with better credentials and for less pay. Example, I would have a hard time getting a job as a flight instructor again without the MEI that I never bothered to get. My turbine time comes from the British Aerospacec Jetsteams so it's not very usefull out there. Good luck.

I emailed it knowing there is going to be lots of interest in the job. Got the address off some earlier posts.

abxflyr 08-21-2009 11:54 PM

Anyone here anything/reply as of late? I figure they are hiring just to sort through all the emails and resume's that CL350 will bring them. I'd like to get a chance to talk with either the DO or CP via phone for a few mins and see what's up, but no contact or numbers can be found (that I know of).

Anyone local there (MEM)??

HungryPilot 08-22-2009 08:08 PM

Memphis is new so I doubt there is anyone local to talk to. Phone numbers are not going to be easy to find. I always try to call places too and many times find out they don't want to talk to us. Not always true. One chief talked to me for 2 hours and helped me get a different job. Other time I can't even get through to them.

FlyingPirate 08-26-2009 09:24 AM

just got a call to interview. not sure if its worth leaving my current job or not....

Yup. I just had a voicemail about an interview as well. Haven't called back, yet. Do you know if the interviews are in PDX or MEM?

FlyingPirate 08-26-2009 09:45 AM

I've been looking at plane tickets and cant find anything cheap

Mmm... I think they want to hire me as an FO, and I've been running some numbers on F/O pay, I pretty much wouldn't be able to survive...:(

Its fairly comparable to what I make now so it wouldn't be a huge issue, plus I could live with my woman there. I drive there almost every weekend anyway.

HungryPilot 08-26-2009 10:41 AM

Just got my call too. I'm gonna be out of town until Tuesday so I have to rush out there to MEM Wednesday morning. Can any one you current Seaport pilots clue us in on material they are likely to cover? FlyingPirate, who do you fly for now? I really miss the single pilot 135 life. Also don't know if i can afford to make the change myself. It's a step up for me being PIC turbine but I'll be honest, I don't like memphis area and it's hard to uproot the family without getting at least 50K. I know, I'm too greedy to be a pilot, right. But hey, I'll take the interview and I would love to have the job. Really not satisfied where I am even though I have free time up the ying yang. Good luck all. Maybe I'll see some of you out there.

CRJDriver 08-26-2009 10:49 AM

Unfortunately, I had to decline the interview. They wanted to hire me as an FO in MEM, but after running some numbers, I wouldn't be able to make a living and pay my bills. Wish there would have been an opening in PDX. Good Luck to everyone!

HungryPilot 08-26-2009 11:04 AM

He didn't specify on the phone but my cover letter and resume specified captain. I couldn't do FO either as the is surprisingly less than I make now which doesn't cut it as it is. It may not be a lot but at least I could sleep better at night with the captain pay. If I upgraded where I am at I would make 39k but I'm not sure I want to hang around even for that. It is nice working only a couple days a month but it doesn't do anything for me long term. Last year I flew about 200 hours. A dramatic change after flying 1000 hours the year before at a different company. Sure with they would fly nashville instead of memphis though.

wareagle07 08-26-2009 12:08 PM

Congrats on getting the interview guys. Still hoping I'll meet up with you down the road. Did they give you specifics as far as what kind of class size they're looking for?

floridaCFII 08-26-2009 01:02 PM

I also got the interview call for the FO position. I'll be in MEM Friday morning. Good luck to all of the other candidates, hope to meet some of ya'll there!

I read in an earlier post that they are looking for 10 FO's and 5 Capt's. Not sure how accurate that is or if i'm even remembering that right. My conversation was very brief and was mostly determining when I could actually make it out there. I'll be in Chicago for grandma's memorial service FRI through Tuesday so logistics will be tricky. Interview are going on at least from Friday through Wednesday morning so they have time to interview quite a few folks. Don't know how many candidates there are though. So basically I know nothing and should just keep my yapper shut.

skybob 08-26-2009 07:48 PM

Has Seaport closed its hiring window? I live in MEM and have about 4000 hours and am looking for a job. Any info would be greatly appreciated.........

You can submit a resume anytime. However, I think you are probably too late for this hiring round, as they are already interviewing between now and Wednesday and class is suppose to start Sept. 8.

HungryPilot 08-27-2009 01:36 PM

September 8? Ouch, that is quick. Class gonna be in AK or how is that done? Anyone know?

Birdman 08-27-2009 07:37 PM

Birdman 08-29-2009 04:02 PM

unfortunately, no.

skybob 08-29-2009 04:47 PM

Where are the interviews being held?

402Fanatic 08-31-2009 01:09 PM

I was perusing the Seaport website and noticed that YKM was added to the drop down box for Origin cities. But you can't book anything. Is this new service that will be added soon? Any Seaport guys know?

Argha, how many more posts do I have to do? Anyway, i'm probably not going to get enough to send a pm but i'm try a few more. I already hit the 25 that supposedly is the line to cross. My log book is calling me though. Gotta finish getting it in order. I know there is more than one of you that have had an interview. Shame to see that you havn't been back here since then. Oh well. Ah, pizza is ready!

FL450 09-01-2009 07:44 PM

Hungry I sent you an email best of luck my friend keep us posted on your success

HungryPilot 09-02-2009 05:52 PM

Interview was pretty much what I was expecting. Class starts in a few weeks! Sounds like interviews will be going for a little longer has qualified applicants are somewhat harder to find than they anticipated. Cullen said his resume pile was something like 600 deep.

HungryPilot 09-02-2009 05:54 PM

Hey Skybob, if you're still around shoot me an email. [email protected]

Does this mean you got the job or are waiting to find out?
With all the pilots out of work - I'm surprised to hear that they said qualified applicants were hard to find.

I hope you will consider posting a comprehensive review of your interview experience on the forum.

Yeah, I got the job:cool:. I think there were 13 positions total and I don't know how many others have been hired but it sounded like the interview pool was not large enough. Do you have an interview coming up USMCFLYR?

Well then big congrats HP. I'm glad you got the job.
Nope - no interviews set up at this point.
