I need a CJ2 type rating
 

Does anyone know where I can get a cheap CJ2 type for SIC? Found Chrysler Aviation in Van Nuys offering it for 8k but was hoping to find something better and lower.

Why are you getting it? If its for a job the company hiring you should pay for it.

Just for some time building and not really a job. I know a guy that knows a guy that owns a CJ2 and he flies around for fun. He said i can fly with him if I want but to do so I i need to be typed so i can log the hour legally.

If it's Part 91, you don't need an SIC type. Just 3 landings and have knowledge of the systems, yadda yadda yadda...just look it up. Most likey, it's his insurance company that requires you to have formal training.

Oh really. But i would atleast like to go to some formal training to have a type rating. As opposed to like just jump in the airplane and blast off you know. Thanks for the advice though.

If he has enough money to fly a CJ-2 around for fun he has enough money to help a poor pilot by paying for the training.

I'm tired of people willing to fly for free just to get a leg up. It's disgusting. Have some respect for yourself and the rest of us.

I don't blame you one bit for wanting formal training as opposed to just hopping in and jetting off, however, it sucks that he is making you dish out money for the training. Any chance you could 'wheel and deal' with him on the cost of training? Perhaps, you managing/washing/cleaning the aircraft to help offset the cost of your training? Trust me, if this guy bought the CJ2 as a toy, I'm sure he could throw a couple grand your way...especially if you are helping to take care of his "baby"...

With all due respect why do you corporate guys do this pay to play crap. Even if it is to just "build time or experience". A single pilot jet is a single pilot jet; just because an insurance company wants 2 pilots doesn't make the little rocket a 2 pilot ship. I've had two buddies get busted by the FAA for some "time building" enterprises as King Air "SIC". Maybe I'm just missing something???

I thought the CJ's were all single pilot anyway so how would you log that? Maybe if it were for a 135 outfit that required two pilots, but your not so.....am I missing something?

That's what I thought too...the little CJs are single pilot to keep weight & costs down???
