Ameriflight drug test

I'm probably being a little paranoid about this. I currently reside with a roomate who uses prescription medical marijuana and occasionally smokes it around me. Im concerned about the 2nd hand smoke and if ill test positive. Im trying to apply for Ameriflight and wanted to know if they drug test. Is it a urine, hair or blood test? Do they test prior to starting ground school ? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance....

It's the standard urine test and they do it some time during indoc. First couple of days if I remember correctly. Couldn't tell you about the 2nd hand smoke, but thats one reason I turned down a room to rent years ago in GJT. Last thing I needed was to have any of the smell cling to me as I head to work.

Heh, don't worry Shaggy, it's probably just a standard urine test. You know I hear if you swallow a penny...

Agree,

Hey man you can't be smelling that stuff. That's an easy way to end a career. I don't know what your financial situation is, but you need to move out yesterday, specially if you're looking for a job. Luv2Rotate is correct, you fail a drug test, you're done, and no explanation will save you, they have thousands of pilots where to choose from.

You think you're being a "little paranoind", I don't think you're being paranoid enough.

You needed to move out yesterday. Think what would happen if the police can over for whatever reason and they "accidentally" found his narcotic paraphernalia. Trust me, you may be charged just for being in the room. I'm not sure where you are located, but in california it may be legal in the state to have medicinal marijuana, but the feds sure as hell don't recognize the state law. The last thing you need is to either fail a drug test or have a narcotics related offense on your record.

Besides, don't you know second hand smoke kills too?<just had to throw that in there>.

I'm curious: What disease does your roommate have that requires him to smoke pot?

Just drink plenty of Ready Clean (?). You can find it at any health nut store and even gas stations.

My friend smokes up almost every night. She is on probation for 2 DUIs and has had to take a drug test every week for the last three years. Hasnt tested positive even once.

I agree that you need to move out and that you shouldn't be around that stuff, BUT...

Unless you're actually partaking you won't test positive. Drug test "positive thresholds" are designed to not show a positive result with only a slight amount of drug in your body. For THC, the normal threshold is 50 ng/ml concentration in urine, and unless you've been sitting in a closed up closet for hours with him before the test I don't think you have anything to worry about. How do I know this? I had a roommate who smoked pot at one point and was VERY paranoid myself. Did a lot of reading. :)

But, when it comes to your career don't even take the slightest risk with this. Get out of there long before you need to take any tests.
