Arctic Circle Air
 

I noticed that Arctic Circle has several airplanes for sale in "Trade-a-Plane", including 2 Sherpas. Anyone have an update on what's happening with the company? I've been away from Alaska for a while and I'm out of the loop.

The Sherpas are also listed on the Arctic Circle Air website. I flew N261AG at it's previous operator. They really haven't had the second Sherpa very long and it's already for sale. They seemed to be very busy with the Sherpas, but loads must have dropped off. Is Northern Air Cargo's 737 fleet getting some of the freight that used to go on smaller planes or did demand for lift in AK just decline sharply? I'm really not that familiar with the freight situation up there.

It's too bad a Shorts type rating is pretty useless. I hope my fellow Shorts drivers can move on to bigger and better things.

HoTH buys Arctic Circle Air Service

NAC really only services the larger communities, I have only seen them in Aniak and Nome; although I'm sure they fly elsewhere too. They drive to Fairbanks now, as well as Dead Horse.

Freight is the big market up here. Most communities are unreachable except by air, so everything has to be flown in.
