Question for 9kers, is it true that if you stay with cape on c402 until you get 1000hrs 121time you can be eligible for captain upgrade to their atr42 based out of guam? Captain c402 to ATR42 captain? Thanks

The C402 is part 135. The 121 time would be gained as a ATR FO.

As far as I know, if you get 1000 PIC in the 402 under 135, you're qualified to go straight to the left seat in the ATR. That was the case a few years ago, don't know if that's changed...

Left seat Captain time in the 402 at Cape air counts towards a 121 upgrade (135 pic commuter). Read the regulation closely, however. Not SIC time, not PIC time either. ATP Captain time. Yes, after 1000 hrs you can bid the Guam atr captain spot.

Don't count on it.

So, it's actually PIC COMMUTER and not PIC CARGO right? Correct me If i'm wrong, 1,200TT and other reqs gets in as PIC with c402 but, only cargo(IFR PIC 135) Then, at 1,500 you get ATP and act as PIC for pax on the 402. So, that 300 hours for 1,200-,1,500 does not count towards ATR upgrade since it was just cargo even though it was on the same plane?
Thank you for the clarification.

Exactly. You hit the nail on the head. Guys at cape air get their 1000 hrs in the left seat as a captain then lateral move to a regional and upgrade immediately. So long as there's no other requirements (I.e. 1000 hrs on property)

The Tecnam Traveller is the Vespa of commuters.

They should consider an advertising campaign with Sophia Loren (at age 82!) as FO and fill-in-the-blank hunk as CA.

How senior are the Islanders? Are they primarily flown out of SJU? What about the Culebra base? I have a friend who is from that area and he is interested. I hear that landing at Culebra is awesome!

I am still a ways away from 500 (if that is still the hard minimum), but I was wondering about their Montana routes. I read that most of their crews are outstation based in general. Does that mean I could request either GDV or SDY for example? Those are both within driving range of my current home in BIS.
