Congrats! How many hours did you have? Looking at them myself as I’m just under 500

I had a post earlier when I went into that, but I applied at 483 I believe. Was told to email the recruiter as soon as I hit 500, then the ball got rolling from there.

Thank you! Should I be looking into finding training material beforehand or just come with strong instrument knowledge?

They'll send you the training materials. If you can learn it before you show up, you'll be ahead of most of the class.

Hey guys,

So I’m considering applying to Cape Air as a Captain. I have a couple of questions that hopefully you guys can help me out answering.

1. Cape Air is advertising 80k as first year average with OT, how much flying you actually have to be doing to hit that number?
2. Is there a possibility to commute ? And how much are you leaving on the table of those possible 80k by commuting?
3. How do you apply to the advance gateway program and how long does it usually take to flow to Jet Blue?

The JetBlue program is reserved for graduates of certain accredited aviation colleges/part 141 training programs. The spirit program is open to all Cape captains. 80k is doable, but how much you wanted to commute home would limit that. Probably 25 of that 80 is picking up extra and incentive days etc. where would you be trying to commute from? It would be a weekly commute to an in base crash pad - and fly commuting on a duty day isn’t generally possible. A 4 on 4 off schedule is typical.
