I realize this was brought up a while ago, but do pilots find the 402 equipment consistently reliable? I though I recall reading some comments from pilots describing some non-periodic/episodic problems with engine reliability in the fleet.

They are good engines. They are well maintained. They are overhauled on schedule, so each 402 has had many engines in its lifetime. But they are GA turbo piston engines, not turbines. And there are two on each plane.

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to give the October class an update on training. Our class had 4 in it and we just finished ground school today (a week and a half). We also started online training before we arrived here in Hyannis. We start flight training tomorrow in the level 6 sim. Everyone is super nice and helpful. We are at the Holiday Inn Express. There are no microwaves in the rooms...so be prepared. There is a small fridge.
Ground school consists of a ton of PowerPoint slides and the information comes fast.
If you have any questions, ask away. I don’t mind

(My understanding) It’s one year commitment post ATP. You’ll need 6 months minumum flying, plus probably 3+ months cumulative training prior to ATP. Can be longer depending on if you pick up 135 PIC duties at 1200 - less time building, better experience/checkride prep. So you’re closer to two years realistically.
And at the end of that time you’ll be as sharp and as well trained as you’ll ever be in your career, with very well respected experience on the resume and over 1000 135 commuter multi pic, which is sufficient for the left seat in 121... Stay another year and flow to Spirit and the A320...

To me they offered one in a half after atp that realistically is closer to 3 years. I have 900h and will take no more than 1 year to get to 1500 if i do the CFI then ($25h). Then in one year i can apply to a good regional that pay at least ($45h) I have an offer from Republic Airlines for that amount and minimum of (75h) a month guarantee once i get to 1450h. Second year at ($55h) plus $10.000 bonus with atp training and paid by them plus EMB190 rating for 1y minimum at signing.
Also, I do have an offer from Silver Airways at ($35h) for 1 year once I get to 1450h. They will pay me the CFi course and wait until the I get the minimum time then 1y contract, turbo prop rating and ATP paid by them..no bonus.
Cape Air is a good option too, nice company etc. But the payment is low 11 and 17 after ATP. The training is nice too but that training is no a base req to go to mayor and make good or decent money plus big turbine rating.
I will reply to Cape tomorrow and ask them if the can make it to 1y after 1500h and if they agree maybe I will sign the contract. If not I will get $4500 for my CFI and then go to Republic Airlines...if not then I'll go to Silver Airways.
It's a matter of time and money.
