Default Should Golf be allowed on layover?

I was just told today that I can no longer play golf on my weekly charter with six and a half hours of layover. What do you think? Normally I sleep during the winter for about 2 and a half hours.

That's a bunch of crap. I've gone skiing, surfed, even picked up a rugby match once when I found a tournament going on near my layover hotel.

If you are off the clock, you should be off the clock. If you are on call, you should be able to do what you want to do as long as you can make the callout. You know the charter's going to be late showing up anyway!

Did they give you a reason why? I agree with cactusmike - that seems pretty crappy that they are telling you what you can and cannot do during your time off.

Duuuuuude!?!?!? Not cool! I can see that MAYBE they want the aircraft ready to go at a moments notice, but c'mon?! You could easily get your C/I/P + Fuel ordered as you walk out the door, and pick it up (C/I/P) on your way back in after playing 9 holes. Plus, if it's a day trip, I can guarantee you that weight wouldn't be an issue...

Give your C.P./D.O. a piece of my mind...will ya?!

Of course you should be allowed to play as long as your clubs ain't throwing the CG out of balance. Now as for beating the CA on a round of 9, well now that's a different issue.

There is nothing in our GOM, it wasn't coming from the customers...I think it just bothers him. I get 27 holes in about 2 hours 45 minutes, I load up and head back out to the airport and get the airplane ready and wait about an hour and head out. I think it's pure BS. On top of that, I'm playing some of my best golf ever!

There is no CG issue and they really don't bring much.

Maybe a shower after would change his opinion.

Can you keep or rent an extra set of cheap clubs at the club? Then, how would the boss know where you were going?
