Hi!

It DEFINITELY is making a slow comeback, but it will never be what it once was, due to the contraction of auto sales in N. AMerica, AND because ALL of the N. American manufacturers are getting more efficient, hence needing less flying.

THis process has been ongoing since about 2000, I believe. The new cars that are getting more and more electric (just like the -787) will require less and less parts, both in manufacture, and for repairs.

PS-The falcon flying for USAJ is picking up. I think they still only have 1 flying, though.

They may be the "best" in scheduled shorts operation, but I know many former on-demand pilots from there that will agree ACC is border line retarded when it comes to charter. The best on-demand shorts operator was by far Alliance. Too bad they are in hibernation for now and not available. Update your availability list.

P.S.

Just wondering, are you actually making any money as a broker?
Yes I'm making good money. The overhead is "My salary, my department, my cell phone, my secretary." And since I run the department, I control how much goes on the loads. Also if charter is too much, I always throw them a Overnight Airfreight rate to them. 90% of the time if they don't go charter, they will go with me for Airfreight. I get significantly low rates through BAX and DHL so when they call Shenker, my rate is usually lower, even with a decent markup.

Seems like the constant is blood/organ donor transport. Most pax calls are people who think they are buying 1 seat.

"What do you mean it's $20k to go to Montana?!?"
"Well, it's actually $40k since you want to get picked up a month later."

Probably a stupid question but why are the older 20/30 series Lear's so popular among on demand freight and air ambulance services? speed and efficiency?

Because they are cheaper to operate than a Falcon 10 or 20 and the Lear 35 has an awesome range on it getting you where you need to be without makining a fuel stop. The 35 is more expensive to operate of the Lear 2X series, don't forget that. I don't know how many trips I lost at Grand Aire because we had the 35 and Kalitta has all the Lear 2X's....now Kalitta owns the old 35. lol

I'd like to add one to your list. Miller Aviation They are out of Portland, IN. C310's, C404 for freight, C310, C421 for pax. I used to work there, not a bad place at all. Does a mix of on-demand, and nightly check-runs(obviously that's hurting as well) We've subchartered for Royal Air and Active(If I remember right, Active runs a bid-board?), as well as a few others.
