Default Is on demand freight making a slow come back?

Just wondering, This last trip we did we ran into a Kalitta Falcon on a trip. Later that evening we heard Ameristar was going into Saltillo. Are things slowly coming back or just one good day.

I think it was just one good day. I haven't quoted one in a week. Everything is going next day airfreight.

Boy I understand the slow thing. I've only done a couple of charters in the last couple months.
Hey 121ADX, your a broker? Do you need the availability of a cargo aircraft? If so I can help on that.

LOL well speak of the devil got another big trip today they actually want us to overnight and take the freight back tomorrow. Dont think you can count this one though, its not auto parts just an off the wall custom critical.

The amount of On-Demand charter companies out there is very small right now. Many have folded, some are laying low and others are barely surviving on the money their 121 side makes (Kalitta, Ameristar). My understanding is Ameristar is down to 2 mechanics and few pilots (including management).

135 On-Demand will never get back to what it once was in the 90's.

Personally I am glad this happened, there where many bad 135 companies out there that needed to be weeded out. The grass is starting to look like grass again. But as always when things are starting to get too much again, the weeds will come back and pollute the grass. Hopefully this time weed control (FAA) will handle this in a better way

At one place I worked, the owner had his STUDENT pilot certificate revoked when he crashed while carrying passengers, for hire, at night, in an aircraft that he was not checked out in. You can imagine what the attitude toward regulatory compliance at that place was. The Feds finally shut them down, about six months after I quit.

They may be the "best" in scheduled shorts operation, but I know many former on-demand pilots from there that will agree ACC is border line retarded when it comes to charter. The best on-demand shorts operator was by far Alliance. Too bad they are in hibernation for now and not available. Update your availability list.

P.S.

Just wondering, are you actually making any money as a broker?
