ATP after 135 checkride
Let me ask this, does anybody, or, is there any point to takin the 121 atp ride after you take a 135 ride?
Would you need to take a 121 written? Would you get another rating? EX: I have 1200 hrs ect. I go to my fav cargo company(you might know the one) I log another 300 hours, can I know retake the 121 written and then another practical exam? Am I not an ATP as a line captain for a 135? |
whats the question?

And is there a point? |
It seems like a good idea. Take the written. Do the 135 training and checkride then take the 121 checkride with the FAA. As long as you have all the required training I do not see a problem with it. I do not know of anyone who has done this but it seems like you could benefit from it

I think you may be a little confused. Passing a 135 PIC ride does not make you an ATP. I passed several 135 rides before getting my ATP. Also, if you are already familiar with 135 operations why would you go take a 121 ATP written? An ATP is an ATP there is nothing on my certificate that makes it a 135 ATP or a 121 ATP.

There is no 135 ATP checkride or 121 ATP checkride. There is an ATP checkride. Part 61.157 says a 135.293 and .297 checkride will serve as an ATP checkride so IF you have passed the written and IF the check airman is a designee or a Fed is observing the ride, you could get the ATP. If the plane is turbojet, has ten or more pax seats or is a multi used in commuter ops, you'll need to get the ATP but there's no flat out requirement for a 135 PIC to have an ATP.
61.157 also says a 121.441 ride will serve as an ATP ride so if you don't have the ATP at that time and it's a PIC ride you'll need to have a written (doesn't matter which one) and the company will have to make sure the designee can also do the ATP. I think most can but there might be some ACDs who can't. Or they can get you a Fed. If it's an SIC ride, at least for now, there's no requirement for the SIC to have an ATP. (Skipping the IRP.) |
Does your certificate say commercial pilot or ATP?

1. Do I have to pass a 135/121 ATP written to do my 135 PIC ride? 2. Is the ATP/135PIC ride tough? whats it like 3. I wonder if people fail this ride ever |
