Grand Canyon/Scenic Airlines

I haven't heard much mentioned here on APC about them hiring. I am going down to interview on March 4th and was wondering if anyone near Northern Utah was going down as well. I've got a place to stay in St. George the night before and would love to split the fuel.

Any other info about the interview would be appreciated too.

Are you interviewing for the 207s? As far as the interview goes, I would recommend reviewing jepp chart symbols and practice chair flying them. Be able to explain how you would fly an approach step by step. Also make sure you're proficient in the sim. Overall it's a pretty laid back interview.

I'm interviewing on the 10th. I was told they are looking to hire 7 pilots for the C207. No Twin Otter positions right now, but was told that could change. The 207 was actually my first choice. I already got enough SIC time...;)

I guess even though the 207 flying is all VFR, we should still look over IFR stuff and fly approaches?

hemaybedid can fill me in on in the interview since I'm going the week after you!:) Maybe we should review Sectional charts! :D

did gca always operate 207s? i thought only twin otters and some navajos

You might get the VFR sectional of the Sfar and look over the routes, and all of the checkpoints. You wont make much dough, but you will love the flying.

Grand Canyon Airlines purchased Scenic Airlines in 2007 I believe. They still fly the Twin Otters. I think the 207s came from Air Grand Canyon and all these companies are now merged and operate under Grand Canyon Airlines. At least that is how I understand it.

I know about the pay and benefits, but when you've been unemployed already for over a year, you can't be exactly picky. I think they will be hiring full-time seasonal only this year, so that is fine by me.

Ok. I worked the canyons too flying the 206/7 and 402s. I don't know if it's still in business or operating fixed wings

Anyone interview yesterday by chance? Looking for some interview information/gouge.

More importantly are there still people paying for an old 206 to go up to the canyon? I guess they're dirt cheap. I was in Vegas a while back and I saw one of these GC tour boutiques, it looked like a 3rd world travel agency with no one in it.

I know someone that just got hired there. I don't know much about it. I'm pretty sure there were only a few applicants that got interview and even fewer hired.

I can't say I'm 100% accurate but that's what I an tell.
