Aircraft brokering
Trying to get some info on how to become a charter broker. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been flying airplanes all over the world for the last 15 years but I know nothing about brokering airplanes. Thanks.

Most successful brokers I deal with have a background in sales, not aviation. You have to understand the affluent clientele and what their needs & desires are... plus having the 'gift of gab' helps.
Otherwise get a copy of the Air Charter Guide, make a killer website, get a cellphone & fax machine and have at it. |

Do you need a license or certification of any sort? PM me if you have any questions... I work with a lot of brokers and may be able to offer some initial guidance |
You could also go the "indirect air carrier" route where you buy a block of hours from xyz charter company for $Z and sell the hours to your clients for $z+profit. In that case, you need DOT economic authority similar to any regular air carrier.
If I were going to get into it (and we've considered it), that would be the route I'd want to take. -mini |
I am a broker with an Indirect Air Carrier License. PM me if you want some info, you have to watch what you say in regards to IAC stuff.
