first year is 43K, sure beats being stuck in a regional right seat. instant PIC time and prob better pay than your first few years at a regional.
can anyone comment on this? is this a single pilot operation? is it mostly night flying? are there planes really beat up? There must be some reason that they cant get there own people into the left seat first?

Metro/1900 start around 41-43K yr, B99 plan about 24K, and Chieftain around 20-22K.

Do they hire right at the 135 ifr minimums, or do you need more to be competitive? I think it sounds like a pretty good gig, I don't know why someone would go to a regioinal for the little pay and to sit in the right seat with this available.
Do majors hire guys with only 135 time, or do you need some 121 time too?

I've known guys that got hired at 1200/50 but they went to the PA31. You have to work your way up to the Metro. Pilots with turbine PIC (I would guess) could get hired straight into the Metro/1900. I don't know what they are looking for exactly. They don't really mention it at the their website. Which, by the way, has a nice route map.

Well, I have 800/115 right now. 25 turbine pic in the Caravan. I am flying the Caravan mostly now. When i get to 1200 I shold have about 300 turbine pic. Hopefuly I should be in pretty good shape for one of the twin turbines at Ameriflight.
I am really thinking this will be my next job. I think it is better than Empire or
Mountain Air Cargo.

So....you think 300 hours TPIC in a C208 buys you left seat in a Metro at Amflight? I'll say I think your dreaming but leave it up to Amflight to decide. Still waiting to hear what their mins are for street Capts on the Metro in PR are. You'll be well qualified for a PA31 slot, though. Does that work for you?

Hiring at AMF
I feel sorry for the pilots who are dogging AMF who never flew freight and go off the stories from their fellow pilots. The planes may look like crap, but AMF is not not trying to impress any passengers.
There is no grey area at AMF it is pretty cut and dry with concern to the regs. AMF teaches their pilots how to properly interpret the regs. I've been flying the Chieftain now for two months and absolutely love it. All the aircraft are very capable aircraft and the Captain is the final authority on the operation of that aircraft.
Upgrade time to turbine equipment is about six months from piston, but AMF is hiring street captains for turbine bases in the BE99 and SA227. At AMF you have a schedule, usually M-F, with weekends off and Monday PM to Saturday AM for Turbine. Can't get any better time and get so much multi PIC time. A pilot can spend 2-3 years at Ameriflight and pretty much pick where they want to go, major or corporate; better than sitting right seat for seven years at a regional before getting a taste of the left seat.

And yes, a PA31 slot would be great.

BE99 requirements are about 1800 hrs TT and 300 multi and 30 turbine (the 30 turbine comes in AMF training time)
Check out the website and look under employment in the "pilot" section, they have immediate openings for 99 pilots in Helena & Billings, MT and up in Visalia, CA.
