Default Ameriflight hiring street captains

just saw an ad on this on climbto350.com

first year is 43K, sure beats being stuck in a regional right seat. instant PIC time and prob better pay than your first few years at a regional.

can anyone comment on this? is this a single pilot operation? is it mostly night flying? are there planes really beat up? There must be some reason that they cant get there own people into the left seat first?

I take it you have never flown for a 135 carrier before. Right seat 121 is a much better QOL.

I'd say part of it is you'll need a little more than flight instructor experience and with any freight company, you'd better have life insurance if you have any bills your family may need to pay.

Chances are anybody in the right seat sees how easily your licenses can disappear over a violation when your in the left seat at these outfits.

Not that I am putting it down or trying to turn anyone away, for $43 you gotta burn it some where.

That's kinda funny, I'll think I frame it.

Flying on the backside of the clock, single pilot, no calling in sick, pressure to fly in horrible weather, poorly maintained airplanes, etc. Great experience though.

iseee thanks guys
while im a night person and wouldnt mind flying then, the other options dont sound too apealing.

even the saabs and beeches are single pilot? i knew the caravans were, what a rush that must be at nite doing an ILS down to mins with an engine shutdown, NOT.

THey've flown into my airport here before. Yes they look like crap. Beat up with a baseball bat look. But it's a job and you have to start somewhere. I'm doing everything I can to get a job at a place like that.

Straight 135 work is poison. $hitty sched. Mostly $hitty equipment. Can't have a life. Flying is terrible WX. Dangerous. Just about every opp is opperating in the grey- its either legal or elegal- there isn't any grey.

Not to mention the wide range of violations that can follow you for years.
