'm currently an FO in the CRJ200 for a Delta Connection Carrier.
I have an ATP CL65 type rating,2400 TT, 960 Turbine, 478 TPIC, 205 Turbofan

Am I eligible to be interviewed and/or hired. I saw on the website they want a type rating in an aircraft they operate. I know my type is not converted over to the challenger even though the CRJ is just a stretched challenger.

Any suggestions on what to do. I want to go corporate but don't want to give up my delta flight privaleges or move from Atlanta so DPJ is just what I'm looking for but don't have a corporate aircraft type rating

I've seen them hire quite a diverse group lately. It's been Retired Delta Main line pilots thru guys on their first type rating. And it seems to be about 5 a month. They have added a lot of aircraft over the last 6 to 9 months so they need people. I think you would be easily qualified.

We are home based. So anywhere Delta has regular service, And your within an hour call out of that airport. The details on approved base location is more specific than that. I just don't have the policy sitting in front of me. Atlanta would actually be preferred i would think, since it makes the crew swap options easier.

We have Delta travel benefits. Non rev only. No "jump seat". Standby code is S3B1. Which puts is under retirees and all mainline employees and their families. Domestic Non rev is a real gamble these days, especially with our standby ranking. Intl is actually not bad though. Just have to watch the route and get a feel of the availability .

The S3B is not bad at. As a Delta Connection Carrier we only get S3C on Delta metal or S3 regular on our metal.

So I assume since no jumpseat you are not in CASS?

Do you get the discounted confirmed seats?
How about health insurance and 401k is it still United Health Care

No CASS for us. I think it is mostly a cost issue. Not a regulation issue. This means no Known Crew Memeber either.

The S3C is what we used to have. They changed some codes around starting in October. That is when we went to the new S3B1. Also S3B is still higher than our current standby status. Which is retiree's. Your current status may have changed in October aswell if you haven't looked at it in awhile.

Yes we can get the confirmed discount seats.

401k? Yes. Company matches 50% of first 5% after 1 year of service
Company matches 70% of first 5% after 10 years of service
It's not terribly impressive. But it's better than nothing.

Medical is thru Anthem for 2015. It changed for this upcoming year. They shop around every year to 2 for insurance.

Pay starts at $40K for FO's. They primarily hire FO's.
$60k for capt on light and Mid size jets.
Pay is currently frozen and is not planned to go up for any position or years of service for 2015.

There is an anual bonus given out to the pilots. It based on profitability. But not a structured Profit Sharing program. It's an arbitrary amount that managment decides how to distribute. Captains get around 1000 before taxes and FO's 500. But it could change to any amount.

There is PTO. It can be used when needed for emergencies, sick days, ect. Scheduled PTO for vacation is much more complicated.

1. Scheduled PTO is allowed once a year for an 8 day rotation off. This can make 6 regular days off. 8 PTO off. 6 regular days off, for a total of 20 days In A row off.

2. First you have to bid for the PTO in one of the 6 anual bid periods.

2. Then once awarded and starting that bid period. an 8 day rotation off can be selected from the ones avaialable. Which are determined by scheduling. This is decided by crew staffing needs.

3. Lastly, to get the 8 days of PTO. You have to volunteer to sit reserve at home on one of your 6 day stretches of regular days off. This six days of reserve is supposed to be within the same bid period you were awarded PTO. It's very rare that you would get called during thoes 6 days. But you are avaialable and can't really go far from home.

PTO is not banked

For those hired without type ratings, how do they determine which type/aircraft to allocate to you? Purely based on specific need at the time? Any examples of recent aircraft assignments for non typed newhires?

They put you in whatever aircraft they need. Currently the Excel, but it can change at any moment.

Learn to mow grass or clean port-a-potties you will be happier and have greater self respect. The day I left was one of my best days in aviation.

So if you aren't typed, do you still have to sign a 4 year contract?

If no type then yes you have a training obligation. Keep in mind it's NOT a "CONTRACT". It is a promissory note. Which is essentially a loan you take from the company for your training and pay it back by working for a set amount of time.

This allows them to bypass all contract law issues where subjective interpretation of the law can cause complications in collecting on the contracts. This is a more simplified process when it comes to collecting on the Promissory note. They can go after your credit and possibly garnish wages just like any loaning institutions can do.

I believe the current promissory note for your first 12 month obligation for a type rating is 100% due on termination. Your second year of employment is an additional year for your recurrent training. And I believe it's prorated for time in service if terminated. If you bid for an upgrade you will have a new 12 month promissory note for that training event. After 4 years of employment the promissory notes are gone. I can't find anything from DPJ with this written out. So these time requirements may differ slightly. But it's what I have gathered from new hires over the last year or so.

You will go to whatever Aircraft type there is a need for. If already typed they will likely put you on that type. Citation Excel is the largest fleet right now and growing quickly. You can expect that.
