I have posted here to help deter a fellow professional pilot from making the mistake of pursuing a position at a stepping stone, bottom feeder 135. If you want 'real information' hang around the cheapest FBO on the field and wait for the oldest and dirtiest light jet to pull up. There you will find a DPJ crew. In a nut shell, you have been warned......unless you aren't a professional pilot.

As far as upgrade times,
Upgrade is performance based. When you fly with a check airmen or a standards captain and they think you are doing a good job, they put your name in for an upgrade and when they need more PICs, they look at that list and upgrade people from that list mainly in seniority order. Some new hires have PIC experience on DPJ aircraft, so they get upgraded in a few months. Some FOs have low time and take longer. That being said, if you have the flight experience (around 3,000 hours) and other PICs think you are ready, you could upgrade in 8-12 months. But don't come here with that expectation.

I am not doubting you experience, but DPJ is not the same company it was when you worked for them. The pay is low, but higher than I was making at a regional and I am treated much better by management. And I don't know what you mean about hanging out at the cheapest FBO. We fly to whatever FBO the customer wants. We go to Signature, Atlantic, Landmark, etc just like everyone else.

Good post. Tell it like it is. It's not contract work either. You'll have a job, and won't have to worry about commuting. I've heard the negative side, but the schedule is good.
