Hi Freightdog. If he didn't quit, do you think AMF would have fired him? Just curious because I'm sure he learned his lesson and will never have it happen again. Also I'm curious about you guys having FO's on the metros. Are they just pay to fly FO's? I thought the metros and 1900's were single pilot? Thanks........

Eagle Jet is the program they use. Guys (usually from outside the US, Korea etc.) buy time to build so they can go back to their respective countries and fly for their national airlines. Occasionally a stateside guy will do it for various reasons, but not often. All aircraft AMF operates (minus the EMB-120) are certified for single pilot operations.

Divert one time too many and they will give the job to someone else. Professional pilots have to push the margins everyday. Most of the time it does not result in an accident...most of the time.

Being a professional pilot is about managing risk not always running from it. In the end it is about getting the job done. Too timid and they give your job away. To aggressive and you will crash. Not all that easy.

Too Bad. He should have held on. He would have had a job for life. It will be hard to find another job after that. Maybe he quit before they fired him?

It was a really bad evening. I hope I don't have to deal with conditions like that again any time soon. Sometimes things just get stacked against you. It was a complicated situation that just turned out bad. I know we all have times we can think back and say "man I'm not going to do that again" or "I'm lucky I didn't bend something that time..." I wish him the best of luck

Heard the tower told him to go missed and then cleared him to land..... I also heard it was a pretty rough day weather wise...did a few missed approaches...
