Since when were airlines hiring 1,000 hour pilots as TMC does?
And yes, if you cannot get on at a regional, where else are you going to make $50k first year & jet time.
Also, assuming everyone wants to be an airline pilot is misleading, and you should stop.

Late 1990's, early 2000's. You could get on with a regional with about 400-800 TT or so.

How are you going to get any jet time when they're always broke. The only thing you'll be doing is maintenance paperwork

Right. But unfortunately for the pilot inquiring, it's 2017.

Sorry, I misread that. I thought you asked a question framed in the past tense. So, presently, as of August 1, 2013 that is, one may be hired into an airline with as little as 750 hours (military experience) or 1,000 hours (restricted ATP minimums). The best part is, the airlines are configured to take low-time individuals and bring them up to speed over a period of several weeks/a couple months so that they are competent to be online by IOE. TMC isn't. We could have blazed a trail and done something about this when the first "pilot shortage" shots were fired, but we buried our heads in the sand, put our fingers in our ears and shouted "la-la-la-la-la". Everything this company has done has been reactive. Hardly the definition of a trailblazer.

Which means that if you meet the minimums for a R-ATP and have a pulse, you too can be an airline pilot at 1000 hr.

Like the past two years? Any idiot with ATP mins can get hired right now. No one needs to "build time" after 1,000 hours anymore. If your heart is set on corporate to airlines, upgrade in a year, get your year of turbine multi PIC time and go wherever you want corporate.

Agree. Their ears have always been plugged, and now they're pretending to give ppl a voice with "hands-on call", except it's a rehearsed 1-way lecture. That simply gives them the opportunity to deceive.

The problem I have with ppl on here is they pretend that TMC is the worst destination for ANYONE and that's just not true. I guess none of them ever worked on-call 24/7 and had to relocate from family.

I really enjoyed my time at TMC because of the pilots I worked with and the experience you won't get at a regional. It's too bad the poor attitudes keep turning prospects away from what could be a much better option than what they're currently doing, despite the problems with mgmt.
