Also I have been hearing rumors that they have changed the pay for new hires, anyone know if that is correct? What are they currently offering new hires?

Thanks.
From what I can gather, it varies by location. Also, reportedly, L-3 is the overall "best" contract in terms of pay and not sharing a hooch with ten dudes, which reportedly Avenge is doing (Afghan anyway).

Just what I heard.

Avenge is offering 475$ for PIC, and 300$ for FOs. 60 on, 60 off

As I had said before, I had heard rumor that they lowered the pay for new hires, but this is WAY lower. This is like half of what I have heard other Avenge pilots getting in the past for rotations to Afghanistan. Are they actually getting people to go over there at that pay rate? And of course you are only paid for time you are gone. If you assume a month has 30 days, that is $9,000 a month each month you work. And then you have to cover the months you don't work so you can cut that in half to average at $4,500 a month. And oh by the way you still have to take taxes out of that.

If you are serious about $300 a day for FO's, I may have to change my plans. When did they cut the pay in half??

After thinking about this for a few more minutes, I know that Avenge has pilots stationed in the States and they are paid a lower daily rate than the pilots rotating to the Combat Zone. Is the $300 number for the pilots stationed in the States? I just can not see people taking jobs in a combat zone for $54,000 a year before taxes based on 180 days deployed.

No, this is deployed rate. This is less pay then what the military pilots make when deployed flying the same aircraft, and they are tax exempt too.

Harvick..where are you getting your numbers? Directly from Avenge or rumor?

I believe that Avenge also pays an hourly rate based on how many hours you flew. So your in-country pay would be a combination of the daily rate + the hourly rate.

Do not quote me on this as I do not work for Avenge. Am just passing on what an Avenge pilot once told me.

Unfortunately as Afghanistan draws down, these jobs that have been so good to so many people for such a long time are disappearing.

Good luck to all.

I left my high paying Afghanistan job when I was able to secure a 121 job with a major over in the States. Sure, I could have rode it out for who knows how much longer. I didn't want to be without a seat when the music stopped and then frantically searching for a job in the States.

Traditionally, the pay rate included a hourly rate x 8 hours a day while in theater. Then there was an "incentive" pay". Now, there is still an hourly rate which appears to be dramatically lower than in years past and what they call an "H&H" rate which is 70% of your base pay x some number. There is also a small per diem rate on top of that.

L3 has kept their pay where it has been for a long time. Most others, are dropping like a stone.

Wow!! Good thing L3 is keeping it's rates. But I guess there will aways be pilots willing to get half the rate at Avenge.
