"Jet Logistics has a bunch of different contracts with life flight-type organizations around the country as well as some regular charter-type gigs, which means that there are probably 6 or 7 different “styles” of flying being done for the same company. In my case, we’re working for Boston Medflight and sitting on alert with a King Air 200. They pay me about the same as a 1st Lt since I’m a 1st officer at the moment, but the schedule and mission makes it worth it, & I think the captain pay would be more than worth it if one of these captains ever decides to leave. They provide health & dental insurance (& I think life insurance too), and we work a 5 days on / 5 days off schedule, from 10 AM to 9 PM usually, but I’ve heard that most other bases sit alert from home much like those times when we’d crew rest then sit 72-hour alert for some pop-up civil SAR. They pay what I consider to be a TON if they ask you to work one of your “off” days, but don’t require you to come in on your days off if you have something on your schedule better than making lots of extra money. We wear blue flight suits and basically do whatever we want while we’re not flying or preflighting."

I worked there at the company up until a few months ago, was based in a different city but did some flying out of RDU and knew some of their operations there. When I was there they had one Lear 35 (JLG21) they flew out of RDU for one owner. The plane didn't fly much maybe a few times a month, all on shorter local flights, usually out and backs. It was an on call job, short notice callouts sometimes. The company wasn't terrible but wasn't amazing, the aircraft, for the most part were maintained well. But it was like other smaller 135 companies where they ran things on the lean side, trying to keep costs down. The guys who used to fly out of RDU were there either because they were retired and did this job for something to do occasionally or had families and wanted to be home a lot. Not sure if anything has changed in the short time I've been gone.
