Cherry Air @KADS

Looking for any info on Cherry Air out of Addison Tx. Pay, QOL, Schedule, any other current info. It looks like they operate Falcon 20's. Thanks

Typical 135 on-demand freight hauler ala Royal, Ameristar or Alliance. They just went through a bankruptcy, reorganization and are supposedly under new ownership. Lears are gone, just a handful of -20s, maybe 2 or 3. QOL, probably a 1 hour callout. Expect long periods of time on the road, don't hesitate to refuse an airplane if you're not comfortable with it. My bet is that you'll sit in YIP, ELP or LRD until they sell a trip. The Falcons were tired 10 years ago, don't think they're RVSM'd. Haven't heard them much in the FLs recently so I'm not sure how much they're flying. My bet is that it's much different than back in the 90s. Pay is probably still base + mileage. Good luck.

Cherry ? Still around. Might as well have asked about Star-Check

Thanks for the info Challenger. They had an ad posted on Climbto350 yesterday, so I was curious what was up. You know what their call sign is? (I assume it's Cherry Air??) Sounds as though it may not be a wise choice to work for?......

In two years of full time, part time, and now full time flying at ADS again, I've seen them do a lot of engine runs, but never once seen them fly.

Star Check (Air Net) is still around, if hanging by a thread. I think they only have about half as many Lears as in the good old days. Still a big fleet of props.

Just a couple times...pull one out of the hangar, cowls off, taxi all the way down to the runup area that isn't in use. Sit there a few minutes. Come back.

Maybe that's why they need pilots, nobody wants to be a glorified maintenance runner?

I am currently working as an FO at Cherry Air. Right now, we only have one aircraft running (CCY163 on flight aware). The first officer pay is 24k base and $0.06/mile with a monthly guarantee of 10,000 miles. Currently we have no benefits like health insurance but they say it is on the way. As an FO, they do an SIC type and you will receive in house training with the sim work at Flight Safety DFW.

This falcon and the next ones coming are not RVSM and are not equipped with an IFR GPS, or reliable radar. Also, they will all have the old CF700 engines which means you will be constantly be running around min fuel. The only aircraft is working well mechanically. Maintenance went through it before it returned to service and so far we have few complaints.

Currently we only have one crew and therefore no schedule but, once new crews are trained it will be a ten and five schedule. When on call, you are expected to be off the ground one hour from the phone call. So you can not be any further than 30 min from Addison. This is on demand so there is no set flight schedule. We rarely have much advanced notice and you are continuously waiting by the phone both in Addison and on the road.

I hope this helps.

That sounds awful!

captfred 06-19-2012 10:06 AM

Can I put a bunk and a refrig in the hangar if go to work there?

Jet7 06-19-2012 11:09 AM

I have to agree. I am new to cargo and it is rough.

point432 06-21-2012 04:57 PM

How often do you go over guarantee?

Last month we flew 25,000 + miles (80 hours). I am not sure where we are this month, but it is well over 10,000. Keep in mind, this is one crew and one Falcon 20.

point432 07-11-2012 07:09 AM

Thats not too bad, but i'm sure you are fairly cheap to fly that much...cost per mile.
