Exclamation FAA has put a hold on new applications -135

FAA has put a hold on new applications (Part 135) anyway, so most people who want to fly under Part 135 make arrangements with an existing charter company.

Is it true? Got it from an article dated October 2011.

Started the process about four months ago and everything has been going smoothly (in government terms).

Maybe a particular FSDO was getting overloaded?

I am currently consulting on a new certificate application that the PASI was submitted abour 4 months ago. We have received two repsonse letters. One that said that we will get back to you if we work it into our schedule. The second one said that we will process the application, but we will get back to you in a few months to let you know the timeline. The last new certificate that this FSDO approved was in 2005.

Some FSDO's are like that. What you could do is apply at another FSDO with a operating base in there control if that would speed up the certification process. From my experience it's the operating manuel reviews that take the most time.

KLIT FSDO told me in the spring of 2011, that the wait was 3 years and that there was 4 applications in front of me. Why you ask? FAA was understaffed and underfunded.
I didn't know what to say....

And his infamous 5 year plans. None of which were ever achieved. Ironic!
