The interview is easy. Expect to answer a few questions about your qualifications. Typical schedule is 4 days on and 4 days off. Yes, you can jump seat wherever you want.

Question SAE Flying?

Hello everyone, I was wondering how the flying is like at SAE as I am only a short time away from obtaining my CPL and I already have over 250 hours of flight time to my name plus over 75 hours of instrument time? Also, what is the interview process like, and do you have the ability to bid on a base or is it automatically assigned to you during training?

Are mid-Atlantic SAE Captains pressing the 120 hour/calendar month limits?

Yes, but.....

..... if hired as a street Captain, expect a month or two delay in training. The company is short on instructors and check airmen. Lots of FO's are upgrading to replace Captains off to the regionals.

If hired as an FO, expect a four to five month delay in training for the reasons above, except you're even lower on the totem pole. Also, expect to fly a lot less than the captains. If you're expecting to rack up the hours to head to Skywest, you'd be better off being a CFI, you'll get there sooner.

What are the chances of being able to work another gig and trying to fly for Southern Airways Express? Just trying to make it work while building time.

You'll probably have to work another gig given their princely salary of $11/hour.

Definitely. I’m located in one of their bases, probably one of the least desirable too. I’m in no rush to get to any regional, but don’t want to put myself in an impossible situation and waste their/my time. Guess I should just apply and see lol
