Yeah, what? 3-6 months? While I didn't do them back-to-back, the cumulative time I spent getting my CFI, CFII, and CFI-G was 3.5 weeks.

Congratulations on finishing it so quickly. While I do not have the statistics in hand, I would say that’s probably not the norm. But that’s just based on my experience of the guys I know getting theirs. I got mine, I know the process, but I also did it part time so not quite comparing apples to apples if you were able to do it full time. I dunno, just saying it is plausible the guy I was mentioning in my original comment may not be able to do it that fast which makes the whole argument moot anyway.

Nothing wrong with this route tbh. Not everyone is in the same hurry or wanting to be a CFI. A CFI who wants to instruct is a night and day difference compared to someone who’s just logging the time to get somewhere.

All I do is train CFIs. If someone comes in knowing their stuff, 3 weeks. 2 is a stretch, but doable if you know what to expect from a particular examiner. Being a competent CFI in that short amount of time is a different story entirely. YMMV and nothing is absolutely, obviously. This is from what I’ve seen and experienced.

I see that Southern has expanded into the PC-12 market. Did they just pickup a few contracts?

I saw two on Climb a few days back, Hawthorn, CA and Jackson, TN. I don’t know anything about the Hawthorn flying. The newspaper out of Jackson had a couple articles on SAE taking Boutique’s flying to Atlanta.

This is just a guess as someone who lives in the area, but the Hawthorne flying might be for SurfAir. Advanced Air was originally on that contract but they just took over for Boutique at LAX. So maybe Southern is sliding in to replace Advanced? I just applied though since I’m a short driving distance from Hawthorne, if I learn anything new I’ll update here.

As a side note, with the recent issues with BTQ SICs not having legal flight time, does anyone know if Southern is part of the FAA PDP that allows SICs to log the flight time in a single pilot aircraft?

Yes, they are. As far as I know.
