Yes. They are usually (strategicly) around the 300 hour mark. Training contract required, upgrade to captain at 135 minimums then 500 hrs as captain. Flow thru to Mesa with a $10k signing bonus and contract (of which I have no details).
There are two ways to look at this; (1) it’s a great opportunity for a low time commercial pilot to achieve their goal of getting to the regionals and avoiding the instructing route (2) it locks your career opportunities for the next ~3 years, unless you can afford to buy out the contract(s). It’s worth noting, Mesa pays the $10k at the “interview”.
FWIW, as a new hire you will be going to Pennsylvania. The SAE first officers do get travel bennies with Mesa so it helps with non- rev commutes.

The 10k is paid when you sign the Mesa contract right after you get hired with SAE. It locks you into a contract to flow to Mesa at 1800 hours or 550 hours as PIC at SAE and to serve 1 year at Mesa as an FO. As for non-rev you get AAC travel status on American for you only, no spouses or children. However your spouse and dependents will get ZED fare benefits on the growing list of ZED partners SAE has after 6 months on the job.

If you do hire on at 300 hours how long is the contract especially if you don’t want to go to Mesa a bottom feeder Regional? If you have 1500 hours and a heart beat you can get hired at any Regional, why would you want to go to Mesa?

You get the ten, if you want it. But, it’s actually ten less taxes, more like 7-8. Yes, you go to Mesa when you’ve got the hours. If you don’t go to Mesa, you will pony up the 7-8 that you paid, plus you’ll also drag out of your pocket the taxes paid by yourself and Mesa. The trick is to be able to afford working the low wage job without taking the bonus..

I don’t have a lot of information about the FO program but I believe you summed it up. As someone stated before, if you don’t accept the the $10k Mesa incentive your under no obligation. Conversely if your short on multi engine time this may be the way to go as SAE is all single engine time.

You will be on the hook for a $8k one year training contract if you don’t take the Mesa Program route.

Can anyone shed any light on where the FO's in PA are living? Are there crash pads close to the airports there?
