Yup it is, one reason I won't go there. Have to buy your type rating. I flew with a guy who spent a year there. He absolutely hated it. He said they would stick the crew in a crew house in Hilo, I think, to get there minimum rest and repeat the same thing for days, even though all the pilots live in Honolulu. It's the only inter-island flying that actually keeps you away from home.

Moving away from hiring low timers that build time and quit as well.

If you want to work for Transair in Hawaii,
121 experience and 737 type is required to apply.
If you don't have 737 type or 737 type with limitations.
you need to pay for initial training + hotel + meal + transportation.
Not for time builder because it is very short interisland flights ONLY.
<30 min flights are sound easy but higher work load in 737-200.
You will work 6 days per week. No time to get sick or even tired.
No CASS and jumpseat. Pilots move to HNL.
They expect pilots to live in Hawaii.
No 401K.
No ZED or ID fare travel benefits.
No UPS or FedEx airline discounts. Transair is cargo company isn't it!
No guaranteed days off per month.
No sick leave.
No vacation.
No pay scale for the next year. Fixed salary forever.
No overtime pay or per-diem.
