Could this be the beginning

Amerflight advertised today willing to type Captains in the Metro and a $12,000 retention bonus.

I just wonder when things like this will happen for mid size jets and have the pay come up too?

Where did you see or read this?

I believe we have already seen this. Back in 07-08 plenty of regionals offered "new hire bonuses" are have returned to that practice. As to retention, that money will most likely not happen due to union contracts. You give it to one, you give it to all mentality. Guessing the wholly owned will have that come first.

I'm sure industry wide it may come to, but I think he was focusing on the 135 side

Got ya, Bottom,

As for the small 135s, doubt day rate pay will go up for contract work

135 or 91 planes like Lear, CJ, King Air, Hawker. As for now I guess companies are still able to find typed guys. Just wondering when having some experience but not always time in type will matter at all.

Depends on the type too. Lear and Embraer pilots are a dime a dozen. But your larger Gulfstream and Falcon pilots can be a little harder to find. That said, we're finding them.

Actually, we have been typing qualified pilots in the metro and BE1900 for a while in locations that are hard to staff.

The $12000 bonus is brand new as of last week. For now it is just over the next year. The year is broken into 3 four month periods. Pilots who are qualified and on line at the beginning of each period and stay through the end of the period (1 May - 31 Aug, 1 Sep - 31 Dec, 1 Jan - 30 Apr) will get a bonus check. The amount is based on the aircraft they are qualified in. For metros it is $4000 per period.

Sounds good I just wish it was a different plane and schedule I would do it but I've done that stuff for years.
