Default Great Lakes

Making final preparations on where and how to time build for my 1500 and planning on Great Lakes or Boutique. Can't seem to find any recent info on GLA, most is from 2008-2012, and i know things have changed. Have 300TT, Associates degree, starting bachelors in fall online, wrapping up commercial single and multi and possibly CFI, so realistically could have about 350-400TT when I apply. I can't seem to find any recent gouges including sim profiles, I have access to a King Air sim and would like to practice before the interview. Also some intel on training, schedules etc... Not interested in being told to stay away just want some good info and decide from there. Any former or current GLA or BA pilots that I can chat with, i'd really appreciate it.

Hi there!
I am currently with GLA. They are short on captains and losing markets to Boutique. Mostly reserve with not a lot of flying in the last few months. Hard training - all manual flying and a lot to remember. They are getting QRC implemented so it won't be as crazy as when I went through training. Hope that helps.
If you do decide to interview I would suggest sim prep. This is the same exact sim they do the sim eval in: http://www.prosimtraining.com/

If you're picking between GLA and Boutique, you're better off going to Boutique. You can even apply for their King Air 350 position and rack up that sweet multi turbine time.

Yeah BA is my first choice, just reading through their thread it seems like a great place to work, although I'm sure they will be harder to get on with at the lower hours. I like BA because its all 135 and i can upgrade faster then at GL, but I like the twin time at GL. Hoping for both to call but really interested in BA.

If you're willing to be based in Denver it would be pretty easy to get hired.

The market for jobs is great now, and will continue to rise. Don't fall into the idea that everyone has to work their way up the ladder. Aim high and start your research now on potential employers. How much money you want to make? How much money you need to make? What kind of schedule you want? What type of aircraft you want to fly? This site along with networking while time building is crucial. Continue your training and get the CFI. The road to 12-15,00 hours is a fun one, enjoy it. Good luck.

We are down to 10 captains with 3 more scheduled to leave... Shortly... Most first officer that don't hold 1 out of the 10 lines we have are flying maybe 10 hours a month some haven't flown since February... The company kicked out the new CFO who was trying to improve the company as far as pilot treatment. Nothing will be changing here in regards to pay and QOL! Boutique is constantly taking over our cities... We cancel more than we fly... It's a dying company. It was a good experience and it made me one hell of a better pilot but right now due to having no captains and a large supply of FOs it's not a good idea to come here unless you want to not fly at all and make 21.50 an hour sitting on reserve 5 days on 1 day off in Denver. However, if you have 1500 hours and can walk on as a captain do it! You will get your 1k pic quicker than hiccups!
