EagleJet plan to employ Australians part 135
Guys
Someone recently sent me a sales pitch from EagleJet targeting Australian Nationals for part "135 jobs" , the roles mentioned were
1. Beech 99/1900 , Metro FOs
2. Capt Navajo, Chieftan, C402 &
3. FO for Brasilia
The stated minimums were 1000tt (no exceptions) & a 4 year degree (half Aussie degrees are three year) , but lack of one year can be substituted for 2 years aviation experience. Was talking about two year renewable contracts
Was thinking the 1000 hours was aiming for "restricted" ATPL holders, and likely the visa would be an E3, which I think is only granted to Australian citizens (courtesy President George W)
EJ seem to play the identity of the participating airlines close to chest (understandably) , does anyone know who the airlines are (PM if you wish) or kind of wages anticipated ? Upfront training costs if any ?
Seems as though the regional (a tier above ) are thirsting for people in the USA, so the piston twin sector - well you would think they would be having trouble finding people
This program might actually be attractive to Australians, as getting 1000 hours or so piston twin here is still almost a "union ticket" to join the major airlines /regionals. The only exception being surprisingly Qantas
Perhaps the third tier cargo type outfits such as Ameriflight , Airnet , Ravn etc might be viable options for Australians ?
Are they really struggling to get crew ? , or is it overhyped ?
I can't really see the larger regionals giving them a go due the time restrictions inherent with an E3 visa, then again it can be rolled over every two years
Likely some Americans will want to know what the opportunities are like for them as pilots in Aust . Well they have always been pretty good , some examples include
1. Hundreds of Americans employed by Australian Airlines & Ansett in 1989/90
2. Quite large numbers of Americans employed by Qantas over the years
3. Experienced Dash 8 pilots employed from USA to fly coastal surveillance, in fact if you have time on a Dash 8 , Qantaslink would consider you for a job right now
(EagleJet Information Below)

After careful review of your documents by Eagle Jet International and its partner airlines, we will let you know if you can be considered for one of the above full time employment positions.
** No Telephone Calls Please. No further information to be provided at this stage.

The E3 visa was a thank you kind of thing from President George W to his friend PM John Howard. I think it was mainly intended for young Australian
professionals in finance , business , engineering , health care , law/accounting etc to make it much easier for them to work in USA. So using the visa (which I understand is tied to a single employer) is probably a little bit of a "stretch" in terms of "original intentions" but likely lawful. Degrees are almost always involved with an E3 visa

Firstly, the "hundreds of Americans hired in '89/'90" were almost exclusively, scabs that either crossed the picket line or flew for America West when they flew struck work during the national pilots strike in Australia.
Secondly, whilst there are quite a few Americans and for that matter other nationalities flying for both Qantas and Virgin, given that they both have small pilot numbers in comparison to NA carriers, to say "quite large numbers" is stretching the truth a bit.
