At least that's how they said it should be when I joined.

In reality it quickly became go to work, fly back and forth, spend the night at an outstation. Then wake up, fly all day, and spend another night in the outstation. Then wake up and if you're lucky fly a half day and go home- or fly all damn day and spend another night in the outstation. Then maybe fly half a day and go home. Drop off dry cleaning, pick up dry cleaning, sleep, repeat.

As a low seniority guy at ATL, you might expect to get sent to PIT and BOS when the need arises. (And MSS is no fun this time of year....)

Default PC-12 training

Is all PC-12 initial training done in Denver? You stay in a house, not a hotel room? What are chances of getting DFW base as PC-12 CA? How many overnights a month? Are junior CA's sitting on full month reserve?

Thanks for info. Phone interview on Friday.

Once you go home, how many days off do you typically get before you go back to work? A while back I read that the schedules are usually 4on/3off with a minimum of 12 days off, so not sure if this has changed.

This really depends on which base you are at so you will get various answers. I’m in Phoenix where we have 6 Captains for 2 routes so generally am home every other night when working. I only have 3 times in February that I will be overnight 2 days in a row. The 12-14 days off is what they shoot for. I have had as little as 11 and as much as 13.

Also, keep in mind that in the middle of your 4 or 5 day work week, they can add shifts if needed and you won’t receive extra pay unless you are over the 80 hour guarantee. For example, if scheduled out Monday on PM shift and overnight at outstation and then get up Tuesday and fly AM shift and then scheduled to show for Wed PM shift and overnight and then Thursday AM shift, this could change to Mon PM shift, Tues AM and PM shift overnight at outstation again then Wed AM and PM shift and overnight again and then Thurs AM shift and off for couple days. Just an example but does and will happen. If the base is short pilots will happen a lot more.

GearDwn Any idea what bases may be currently in need of pilots?

Default Boutique getting Piaggios?

I didn’t see this one coming... Probably a lot of cheap airframes available and friends who have flown it enjoyed it. Would certainly be interesting to fly the CATFISH:

No specifics about potential bases or how many airframes and over what timeframe....

I’d heard about this for the past couple months. My understanding is they want to use them to begin a heavier emphasis on On-Demand 135. I’ve heard they don’t plan on using them on EAS routes.

I sat next to a couple of Boutique guys in recurrent this week and one of them mentioned getting P-180s. I’d love to fly the plane, just not sure it is right for those types of operations. Good luck! I’d like to see more of them out and about.
