Kansas City: Time Building (Citation CJ4)
 

I'm the Chief Pilot for a company located north of the Kansas City area. Our flight department operates a Citation CJ4 aircraft. The aircraft is normally operated single-pilot. I'm offering the opportunity to building jet experience, and training on trips. The company is offering to pay mileage, hotel and food expenditures.

As a current CFI, I would be willing to sign-off the jet time, and dual time. Ideally, I'd like to see the individuals' training culminate toward receiving an SIC type.

Prerequisites:

Live in or around Kansas City "area"
Commercial Certificate
Multi-engine rating
Instrument rating

Just to be clear, this is an "Unpaid" position. It is purely in invitation to gain jet experience.

Cool deal! Is the CJ4 certified for single-pilot, or does it require a waiver?

Bad deal. You should be paid to be a CJ4 co-pilot. @ $30,000-$40,000 I should think.

The CJ4 is a single pilot, type certified aircraft. Our company operates the aircraft as a single pilot aircraft. Which has the right seat go out empty, that was the reason for the post offering the experience.

This is just some way for a flight department to get someone to work for free. I am guessing that the captain is single-pilot rated, but the company or passengers want a second pilot on board, so the chief pilot has come up with a convincing ad to solicit an inexperienced pilot to work for free. Dangling the carrot of jet time so to speak.

Young pilots: You dont have to work for free!! You can't command alot of money, but you should at least command a little for your time!

Useless to log too.
You have no business in a jet if you don't have at least a SIC type from a reputable training provider.
Don't care if it's legal under Part 91 but that doesn't make it wise.
Being clueless in the upper Flightlevels is not a good place to be.

Will this be available in the future? I have my private and my instrument. Im working on my single engine commercial then my multi. I should have both within 6 months if I pay my cards right.

You absolutely CAN NOT log flight time as an SIC part 91 pilot, in an aircraft that is single pilot rated and the Captain is single pilot typed.

You are not a required flight crewmember.

PLEASE read the advisory circular on logging of flight time.

NO, you can not say you are required because the company requires it. This is a total myth, that the advisory circular is trying to clarify.

If you do it, you would have nothing but dual received added to your log book. That is useless and counter productive to your future.

If you receive benefit, and having your expenses paid, is a benefit, you need to have your commercial multi, or god help you when the FAA finds out.

It's not 1989 anymore🙄
