FOR THE RECORD: I am not a recruiter for Aperture, not, technically an employee yet, since I start July 10... this is the best information I have - but understand the source.

Aperture Aviation of San Jose, CA

http://www.apertureaviation.com/careers/line-pilot

Home based, 8 on, 6 off schedule. Wed-Wed.

Flying aerial survey in a C206 with G530 and G600 or G1000 panels. Two pilot crew.

Company paid travel to and from location each week, single occupancy hotel rooms, rental car provided. $46 perdiem.

Req'd quals are in the job posting.

I had 590hrs, and commercial ASEL When I applied (in May).

Couldn't make the first round of interviews/class date due to my own schedule. Made the second round, got a call about a week after the interview with the invite to training.

I spoke with the Chief Pilot today, they are looking to hire more pilots, but he isn't sure when they will do a third class/training b/c of current schedule and instructor availability.

My advice - put an app in, the worst that can happen is they say no thanks...

Personal observation: seems like a pretty good bunch of guys. Doesn't look like a high time building job, as time is split between you and the second pilot. But it seems like a decent flying job. I guess I will find out.

Looks like an awesome place.

If you don't mind, can you talk about salary and benefits?

Also, should email the resume after applying and get the reply email from the company

I would go ahead and do both the online form and send an email with your resume.

Feel free to drop my name as an online source (makes me look good, though that prolly won't help you

Can't really speak to benefits as I am fuzzy on the details (they briefed me at the interview, but there was a lot going on, and I flew in that morning - so it was a long day before I even got there)

Starting pay is $38k and change. Increase after 6 months.

Just sent in my Resume and filled out the online app.

RayBurton72, can you speak about the pay scale, per diem, and flight hours being flown?

Starting salary is $38k. Per diem is $46/day.

Not a time building job as weather, mx, equipment and ATC all have to line up to get work done. And, it is a two pilot crew, flying a one-pilot plane (C206)...

So you are only logging PIC when in the left seat.

This is my first week flying production, and I have yet to fly a successful photo flight due to Wx.

So, after one week of training, one week of proficiency check and one day on the line, I have logged 24.5 hours.

When everything works out, especially in the summer, you might get 7-8 hours in a day, but that is very rare. (And you will be wiped out if you were pilot flying)

Most likely, on a day like that, you would switch seats between flight.

Thanks for the response! From what I can tell it doesn't seem like a bad gig at all. The pay and schedule really are top notch for flying a 206. With per diem factored in the salary is around $47,600 a year. I applied with 475TT with 200 high performance and will be finishing my current skydive season in about 6 weeks. I'm not looking to fly 100+ hours a month but if I'm able to log between 30-50 a month, work there for 12-18 months with the 8 on 6 off schedule I think this could be a great fit. Rayburton how long did you have to wait to hear back after you submitted your resume?

I heard back in about 10 days, but I also happened to hit them just as they were scheduling interviews for the hiring cycle.

I don't know what their hiring schedule is right now, but I do know they are still looking for pilots.

Still hoping to hear back from them.

I was just doing some snowball type thinking, if the company requires 2 pilots, 1 flying and the other doing the camera work and looking outside for traffic, couldn't the second pilot be considered a safety pilot?

With the 8 on 6 off schedule do they fly you out on day 1 and fly you back on day 8 or does it take away from the 6 days off you have?

Ray, did you finish your first full 8 day cycle?

Think it would be okay to give them a phone call to put a voice to my application?

Could only be safety pilot if the other guy was under the hood.
