Default American aviation

So did America aviation change management or something? I searched the forums and heard all kinds of bad stuff, yet it was all like 2-3 years ago or more.

Az might not be to bad if you get to build cross country flying in the canyons. The only downside is turbine time, does American have any turbines you can promote yourself into? I know hageland does and scenic airlines does also. If you get 1500 and no turbine is that going to hurt a lot for the bigger cargo or charter ops?

I guess i could always do another season after at a turbine drop zone to build some turbine after getting the cross country time out of the way.

I just wish I could find something like hageland or grant but down south or better yet in the carribean or something.

Yep, new chief pilot etc.
If you think turbine time is all that, go find that drop zone. 1500 hours is 1500 hours, no-one in 121 gives a damn about turbine time.

Ah, this was from 2 years ago. Just management/owner issues and being strung along for weeks at a time with no pay since you don't start getting paid until you pass your checkride and they just wouldn't pass you until they needed you. Meanwhile you're sitting in middle of nowhere AZ doing nothing.

Hoping things have changed.

Yeah, we have a new chief pilot who's pretty switched on. Also, the busy season is just about to start so they want to get everyone through training as soon as possible.
Pay has also increased, I think with all the bonuses it's around $33k/year now, which is not a bad salary for an entry level job.

Default If I don't have the 135 mins can I apply?

Hey dera I don't have the 135 mins, I am like 4 hours short. Trying to get my biannual done and build a few hours getting IFR currency.
But if I apply before I have them will I get kicked out of the pile for not having them or will it be OK since I am close and will have them soon?

You need to have them when training starts. If you are a few hours short, I'd probably just note that in the application that you will have the mins before ground school starts. Not sure how many spots are left, I think they just hired a few.

Default Heat is better than cold

Ill take heat over freezing cold. I get cold easy and will turn kinda blue and get the tingles in the hands and toes. I lived in TX,MS,OKC when in the military so once I get used to the heat again ill be fine.

I fly from Abbeville (KIYA) and hear the pipeline patrol guys checking in as they pass through the airspace at 500ft. Must be taking a beating in these summer months! As soon as I get airborne its climb climb climb for some cooler temps!
