Air Attack/Air Tankers/SEAT/Fire Boss

Good evening, I was wondering is anyone can give information on how to get into Air Attack and Air Tanker work as well as SEAT's? Specifically flying SEAT or OV-10s and S-2's for Cal Fire?

Since we are on this topic...

Anyone know a good place to keep watch for smoke jumper pilot jobs and the like? I've done jump pilot work for 2 seasons and live in WA and I know we have a smoke jumper base here in E-WA.

USAJOBS. GOV. Set up an account, then set up notifications to your email.

There are a few federal smoke jumper positions; the pilots performing these duties often start out flying jumpers and then move to leadplane positions (or ASM).

Otherwise, the contractor positions for which most smoke jump ships run are through private companies, where one is hired under Part 135. Those jobs will not appear on usajobs.gov.

Is Anything going on at Greybull, WY?

JohnBurke 01-01-2018 06:47 AM

Tanker operator Hawkins & Powers went out of business at Greybull a long time ago. Maintenance operations remain. Sky Aviation, a subsidiary, continues to operate with rotor and fixed wing, out of Worland; the fixed wing is primarily fire patrol. Greybull does have an on-demand temporary tanker base, though it's not high-use. Billings, MT, is a permanent seasonal tanker base and sees more use. Another affiliate of H&P's, based in Sheridan, is Big Horn Aviation; they do have smoke jump platorms operated in several states.
