Hello all,
I just need some advice who to work for.
I have a phone interview with Southern Airways Express and Keystone next week.
Air Choice one currently processing my resume.

I知 hearing bad news about Air Choice One online from former pilots, that they can fire and charge 10,000 or sue you, bad maintenance,24 months contract.

I知 not sure about Southern Airways. I just saw a couple negative reviews online.

Thanks,

Go to the Part 135 Forum. There is plenty of information on these companies.

Keystone is one of the top tier imaging outfits in regards to pay, QOL, safety. Their deployments can be a bit long 30-60 days AND you need to live in Philly. I believe their starting pay went up based on total time/multi engine hours.

For what it's worth, I will offer my opinion on ACO after an interview with them. I was pleased with the personnel at corporate, but the contract is why I turned them down. It states at the beginning that you can only be fired with just cause. Later, it states you can be fired without just cause and you're still subjected to pay the monies back. I questioned it and they were like oh, we've never fired anyone. If you look online, you'll see the contrary.

The terms are determinant upon how many hours you have coming in. <500 will get you a 24 month contract. Between 500 and 999 will get you 18 months, and >1,000 will get you one year. And, they have virtually no money in your training as it's all in-house. They're banking on you leaving to go 121 and pay them back the 10,000 when you bounce.

You can find in the forums here where they have gone after former employees in Missouri courts. I think there's better companies out there without contracts. I have heard good things from Keystone and SAE. To each his/her own, but I would stay the heck away from any contract. A good company shouldn't force you to work for them- you should want to.

Hope all goes well.

Another issue with ACO is the abysmally low pay. In my opinion they are playing both sides. If you want to put me on a contact, no problem, pay me market rate.

If you are only going to pay me 18k a year, I better be able to walk out the door whenever I want to, with no financial penalty. Low pay, and a training contract? LOL, no way!

x2 to what itsmytime said.

Glad to help and a bullet dodged my friend. I would think they'd mention the next steps at the end of the phone interview, but usually if you pass you'll get a face-to-face. If you don't hear anything in a week, I'd follow up with the person you've been talking with so far.

If you're extended a face-to-face interview, I'd recommend looking at aviationinterviews.com for a gouge on what SAE asks. For ACO, it was spot on and like clockwork from my experience.

Good luck on the F2F.

All she said at the end of the interview is if I have any questions to give her a call. I really hope she値l call me back soon.

Give her a week or so and follow up with her. Don't appear desperate, but rather than you're genuinely interested in the job.

If it doesn't work out, I can't explain how important networking is. Get on LinkedIn (if not already), figure out who works where, and strike up conversation. I wanted to fly 135 in a multi turbine and got on Air Charter Guide to find operators in my area. I emailed my resume to every operator in a 100 mile radius and had a couple bites, but mostly didn't hear a thing from anyone. All it takes is one person to say yes, though. I'm flying a jet now without a contract due to this method. Sometimes it just takes knowing what you want, not settling, and getting creative.

Job searching isn't always easy and if it doesn't work out, my advice is get creative and network. If you don't have a LinkedIn account, hop on there, seek out companies/employees, and strike up conversations. I wanted to fly 135 multi turbine and I got on Air Charter Guide and sent my resume to every 135 operator within 100 miles. I only got a few bites, but all it takes is one person to say 'yes.' I'm flying a jet now without a contract. My advice is network, get creative, don't settle, and you'll find a good job.
