Default 500 Hour Job Opportunities

I was wondering if I could get the communities feedback and recommendations in regards to any jobs that may open up around 500 hours. I do have my B.S. in aviation science, don't know if that will help at all this early on, or it's just a matter of hours until ATP.

Thanks ahead of time for all your help and consideration.

500 hours, and other 135 VFR PIC minimums will get you a scenic flying job somewhere around the Canyon.
Westwind, American Aviation West etc.

Not everyone should be a CFI...not everyone wants to be a CFI.

This is true. Forcing people that 'don't want to/won't be a good' CFI to CFI is a bad idea. This whole idea that CFIing is the only way to build hours is flawed. It might be the easiest way to build hours, but when you have a whole bunch of CFI's that don't care about their jobs and are only doing it to build time the end result is a new crop of pilots that isn't up to par. Bad CFI's create bad pilots, it isn't fair to the students that are spending money, and it isn't good for this industry as a whole.

This is an unintended consequence of the 1500 hour rule.

I whole heartedly agree with this! Too many think that the CFI is the ONLY way to go. For lack of better words and/or motivation, that is stupid. There are so many valuable opportunities out there. Do you know what really taught me to have a good scan and situational awareness ... 135 night flying by myself! With good training, just go and do it and don't look back. You will scare yourself a few times but man was it a fun ride and valuable! Now, I'm not saying the CFI is a bad route .. it's just not a good route for those who don't want to teach. It would be a disservice to your future students. Just my two cents...
