Dynamic Aviation King Air 90
Hey all,
Currently finishing up my ratings in a accelerated part 141 program that takes me through a optional CFI course and have been curious about the conditions flying the 90 in California for dynamic, I believe it’s California medfly who are the operation out there.
I haven’t been able to find much relevant info other then you fly a lot and you’ll be hitting atp mins quick.
Can anybody shed some light about pay, conditions and schedules for a first officer and upgrade time as well.
Thanks!

Good opportunity if you want to build time....cost of living is high, need to take that into consideration.

I just quit from there I wouldn’t recommend it they have a very high attrition rate because they don’t care for their pilots. They keep giving raises to everyone else but the pilots. FOs are paid 11 in the air and 13 on the ground and captains are paid 14 in the air and 12 or so on the ground. Not to mention their insurance package is terrible super high deductible and the insurance finds any way to not pay it. Just avoid there are better places ro work. Also upgrade time is at least 2 years

The Medfly program out of Los Alamitos pays more than has been posted above.
Upgrades usually happen when one reaches the 1000 - 1200 hour total time in the airplane. Crews there have been getting up to 120 hours a month of flight time.
Low time FOs (i.e. those that are starting at 250 - 300 hour level) are upgrading to captain in six to eight months there.
Word on the street is that Dynamic has plenty of applicants for FO spots at Los Alamitos which may explain why no one is hearing back from them on those positions.
Finally, different folks will have different opinions on how the pilots are valued and treated at Dynamic...

If you were fortunate enough to be hired into the Med Fly program as a low time FO, is it eventually possible to move up within the company to other types of flying?
In other words, will they hire from within to fill Dash 8/King Air ISR roles?

Yes, they will promote and hire from within if there are openings on the ISR side. I think it is just waiting for the security clearance that will take time. Plus they do some interesting aerial data acquisition work all over the world.
It’s a good company. Yeah, pay may be on the low side at medfly but once you upgrade so does pay.
Great group of people work there (at least when I was there) and I doubt that has changed. The base manager left and from what I have heard the previous base manager came back. Both of them are AWESOME individuals. I think it’s a good company with good folks and base managers (previous and current) who care about their employees.
