Low Time Pilot in the Miami area
Hey guys,
I currently reside in the Miami area were I was training for my CFI but had to stop do to money issues. If anyone knows of anything around Miami, Orlando or maybe Puerto Rico, I would really appreciate it. I feel like I'm running out of options here, and the last thing I want to do is to volunteer to go to Afganistan or Iraq again. I hold a Commercial Multi and Single Engine License with a TT of 510hrs and 98 ME with a 1st class Med.
My E-mail is [email protected]
Thank you all.

Have you gone to the drop zones in the area? When my dad was living there and I visited him we drove out by Homestead and they're using a Caravan, there is also Banner Towing out of Hollywood (if you don't have your tail wheel invest $500 and get it) and if you had your CFI you could go to American Flyers in Ft. Lauderdale. That's all I can suggest. I live near Vero Beach and just got a CFI gig up here. Are you in the Aviation Unit down there, I'm trying to transfer from my PA unit?

With 98 hours of multi, buying 2 hours is possible (Even as a CFI) to get 100. As a CFI, building TT really isn't that difficult, it's the ME time since most schools only allow their CP or highest CFIs to touch ME students. Many CFIs with their MEI often go their career without ever teaching from the right seat of a Seminole (or barron or what ever).
If you are looking for the airlines, then CFIing is really the only option. Maybe you can get another job in the mean time to help pay for that CFI then you can find a school. The airlines are hiring a bit so many schools are finally starting to loose instructors - especially those high up the seniority list.
Having 100 multi is a good position to be in. As I said, once you start CFIing, the TT will build fast. And now that the airlines are hiring, it's not the 5000TT and 500ME time that people were predicting that would be needed - most people getting hired at Eagle have between 1000-2000 hours and 100 - 300 hours ME.
Good luck!

CFIing is a great experience.
CFIin is where you really learn how to fly and work with others. I know is thought without money, but hey you're almost there. And you already have almost the 100 multi hrs.
Basically you're half way to the regional airlines. Just a little bit more... =)

jsfBoat, Thanks for the advise, I will check the homestead and banner towing company, I'm not in the aviation unit down there, I'm a Drill Sgt out of the Orlando Army Reserve. Are you Army or AF? If you're Army I'll be more than glad to help you with the transfer, just let me know.
Thank you all for a great advise, I will definitely soon finish my cfi training (once the money issue has been resolved. ) But for now I would really appreciate if anyone hears of anything, to drop me a line I'm going to check the banner company in Hollywood and the diver in Homestead. Also If I hear of something down in the area I'll post it for you guys that are looking.
Thanks
