Aviation job boards worth the cost

Are aviation job boards like climbto350 and planejobs worth the money they make you shell out?

It's really irritating that the aviation industry makes you pay just to look for work. This doesn't happen anywhere else. I can look for non-aviation jobs on monster and career building for no cost.

its not a big secret to pay for work in this industry. You want the information someone has it and people are willing to pay for that.

Climbto350 recycles jobs to inflate their numbers, and continues to advertise positions even after employes have asked the ad to be pulled (because the position has been filled).

Other services are available which offer more. Not all services charge a fee.

I've ben hired off Climbto350.com. I've also been hired out of Trade A Plane, as well as JS Firm.

I'd strongly recommend steering clear of avjobs.com.

Planejobs.com has good information.

Stay away from FlightLevelJobs.com!! Horrible experience with billing and questionable behavior with my credit card. The correspondent would never give a name or phone number and I had to get a refund from my card company. It was a mess!

Are there any reliable aviation job boards that don't require a paid membership?

Systemized 05-26-2013 12:42 PM

Does anyone here use or have experience with PlaneJobs.com?

Friend of mine just got a job, head hunter called offering an interview--Bingo, job offer. No cost, wasn't even looking.

I use planejobs.com.

It's a good site.

Airjobsdaily.com is a paid site that I've been curious about.

will fly for food seems to be a good one.

Will Fly For Food is the best one I have used. Airjobsdaily is junk and Climbto350 mixes good stuff with fake stuff.

JohnBurke 05-28-2013 09:03 AM

Airjobsdaily isn't bad. I've carried subscriptions in years past. I don't presently have one. It's not a bad service for government jobs, either, though those can also be found free of charge at usajobs.gov.

I was with willflyforfood from the start, when it was free. I don't presently subscribe.

Climbto350 was the same. When I cancelled, they kept trying to bill my card. I had to threaten legal action to stop the practice.

Climbto350 recycles jobs that they know have been filled. A few years ago an operator for whom I was doing some work used Climbto350 to advertise a 135 position. The response was overwhelming, given the economic conditions at the time, and the job was filled immediately. The operator contacted Climbto350 to have the ad taken down. It continued to resurface again and again, inviting a mountain of resumes and an unending stream of desperate individuals by the hangar, looking for work. Repeated calls to 350 didn't fix it, and when discussing it with them on the phone they asserted that it was their company and they'd advertise the jobs as they saw fit. All good and well, except for jobs that don't exist...and they know it.

Avjobs is the worst I've encountered, and by far the most unscrupulous with respect to billing and customer service.

How about pilothiring.com ??? Has anyone used that site ? thanks

BeechedJet 10-01-2013 01:23 PM

I use pilothiring.com.

It's a great site I think. Whenever I see an online posting im interested in I try to cross reference it with my own research and for the most part these jobs are in fact legit. Also I like the search filter.

Which head hunter was this? Any good ones you guys could recommend?

Thanks

Looks like Airjobsdaily (air jobs digest) has gone under. Their web site domain states that they don't exist any more.

My last 2 flying jobs I have found on Findapilot.com FWIW.
