GA around Atlanta? Needing advice

Hello APC!

I recently relocated to Atlanta and I am looking for suggestions on both popular $100 hamburgers and fun XC destinations both nearby (<50nm) and a little further out (50-200).

Also, can you recommend any particular FBO or flying club where to rent from? Having a taildragger would be a plus...

Thanks in advance for any info/advice you can provide :)

KRYY Cobb County

Might be a little closer than you want, but it's got a great restaurant.

Peachtree State GA2 was a restaurant, grass strip and a small museum. I think there's a flying club with a taildragger.

There are two places at PDK. Both good in my opinion. 57th Fighter Group is high end with a great Sunday brunch. The Downwind is more casual with a great view of the action.

LZU has The Flying Machine.

I've flown my wife to Jekyll Island for the day. Rent a red bug electric car and tour the island.

St. Simons Island is more developed and has a great amount of shopping, bars and restaurants.

Amelia Island is a nice stop. So is St. Augustine.

You can fly into FFC and get a ride to Aircraft Spruce. Not the biggest showroom, but they have most anything you want in the warehouse.

There's some pretty flying NE of ATL in the mountains of North GA and Western Carolina.

Blairsville - DZJ to Andrews - RHP to Franklin - 1A5 is a very pretty mountains/rivers/gorges/lakes area that will keep your eyes entertained for awhile.

Ocala, FL has the Tailwinds Cafe (~300nm from ATL)
Greenville, SC downtown (GMU) has the Runway Cafe (~125nm)

Now I'm hungry :)

Adventure Pilot has a cool search tool that lets to pick restaurants etc along your route etc.
Restaurants on airport, walking distance etc.
You can also find camping, lodging etc.

The $100 hamburger site seems to lack accurate (up to date) info in many cases.

Yeah for the best $100 hamburger in the South, I would highly recommend Ocala. For short cross countries, consider KMCN, for a longer one, KVLD (much cheaper fuel), KJAX, KCTY, KCHA et al should be fairly accessible.

If you are looking for aircraft to rent out and taildragger is your thing, I would highly recommend Skybound Aviation at KPDK. Small privately owned school with quite a laid back yet professional atmosphere. Aircrafts are quite well maintained and instructors are great!
